"Donuts?"

"Check."

"Macaroons?"

"Check."

"What about the cookies and veggie cheese tray?"

"Yes. It's all here, Mom."

Marinette knots the bags of the last of the treats she's made for Juleka's party. She had gotten some help from her mother in deciding on what to make and bake for everyone. Three different cookies, two types of macaroons, three types of donuts, and approximately two trays of veggies. She was also assigned the job of drinks--by Alya. Her idea was water and juices. Her parents suggested pop, which she caved into.

She even made a batch or two of treats that were for the ones who had allergies to certain ingredients --- *cough* Nathaniel with his vanilla extract allergy *cough*----it's not that he's allergic to the ingredient, it's what makes the ingredient. He's allergic to the ingredient's ingredient, basically.

"Will Alya drop by before you go off to the party?"

Marinette stops for a second, giving a jittery chuckle. "Uhhh...Actually, Alya's gonna meet me there."

"Oh?" Sabine's curiosity piqued higher than her own height. "Then who will be helping you with the food?"

"About that, " Marinette fidgeted under her mother's gaze, who eyed her like an owl. "Luka and his sister will be coming by. We're going to walk together."

"I didn't know Luka had a sister! How wonderful!" Sabine smiled.

"Yeah, she's a pretty great friend. You'd like her, mom."

"I'm sure I would." Sabine smiled brightly at her daughter. "Have you packed your jammies for tonight?"

"Yes, " Marinette chuckled as she nodded. "And a blanket."

"Oh, good..." Sabine hummed. "What about..."

Marinette sucks in breath. "Mom, please." Oops...the girl regretted opening her mouth, as it came out harsher than she intended it to, especially when seeing her mother's face. "I'm sorry, um, yes, I've got everything I need."

Sabine's expression melts into a neutral one. "Of course, sweetie. Be safe, okay? And---and call when you get there! And text every so often and tell how you're doing, okay?"

"Okay, " Marinette places the box on the counter, giving her mother a side hug. "I will."

Sabine goes to say more, but she hears the bakery door open, the little bell dangling above it jingling a small chime. She perks up immediately, wiping her hands on her apron while she exits the kitchen to greet the customers.

"Welcome to Tom and Sabine's bakery, how may I help you today---oh! Why, hello, Luka dear!"

Luka?! Marinette straightened up quickly. With each finger, she snags the treats by the knots of the cloth wrapped around the tuple ware. She feels her pulse quicken, feeling so odd and out of her character.
