A pleasant smile made its way onto Nathan's face when he entered. To say it surprised him would be an understatement; the buildings half-cracked bricks and empty car park would make anyone think it was as run down as it seemed. Inside was a completely different story. Just over a dozen booths lined the back of the room. They scattered tables around the rest of the room
"Table for two?" A worker questioned, her brown hair swaying as she walked.
"Yes," Lucas answered as he flashed the worker a smile.
"Okay! Take a seat, someone will be with you shortly," she instructed, her smile swiftly became a glare when upon looking at Nathan.
"Thank you." Lucas smiled as he led Nathan to a table.
"She was completely flirting," Nathan announced as he sat down.
"She was doing her job, Nate, Lucas dismissed as he smirked.
"I didn't realise she got paid to flirt," Nathan snarled as he checked his phone.
"It's her job to be friendly. Why do you care anyway? Are you jealous? I mean it's understandable, It must be hard to compete with someone as handsome as me," Lucas teased, mischief in his crystal eyes.
"I wouldn't call you handsome. Moderately good looking at least. Besides, I'm not a fan of people trying to get in my pants," Nathan counted; unable to contain his laughter when Lucas began wheezing.
"You find me good looking? I'm flattered honestly. I mean, I did not understand you where gay."
"I didn't know you were," Nathan admitted.
"Of course I am. Why do you think I've never had a girlfriend?"
"Because you have a massive ego? Because you're annoying? Because you're okay with woman flirting with you? All the above?" Nathan questioned, smiling at Lucas.
"Well, that was uncalled for..." Lucas stopped mid-sentence when he noticed a waiter coming over.
"Hello. My name is Kyle. I'm your waiter for today! Do you know what you want to order?"
"Can we just get drinks for now: and could I get a menu?" Lucas asked.
"Of course!" Kyle said happily.
"I'll just have water for now." Lucas smiled.
"Just a Coke, please," Nathan spoke, smiling at Kyle.
"Sure!" Kyle smiled, walking towards the kitchens.
"Is that what you think of me?" Lucas asked, moving cutlery to the side.
"You asked me why I think you've never had a girlfriend, I just gave suggestions of why people thought of you," Nathan defended, sending Lucas an innocent look.
"Yeah, right," Lucas rolled his eyes, which changed to a pleasant smile when Kyle made his way over, with their drinks and menu on a tray.
"Thank you," Nathan responded when Kyle placed the drinks on the table.
"You're welcome! If you need anything, just give me a shout." Kyle smiled.
"We will, thank you." Nathan mirrored Kyle's smile.
"So, how's Dylan doing?" Lucas questioned, taking a sip of his water.
"He's fine. We've just started him on baby food, thankfully he's doing well on it. He's growing so fast; it feels like he was just born yesterday," Nathan admitted.
"I bet. How long until he says his first word?"
"I think he could start next month, but I don't know. Anyway, how's your life?"
"Alright, I guess. College's getting harder, they're giving us a lot of work. I don't know how you do it." Lucas sighed.
"And it's stressing you out? I get it. I only do it 'cause I want a better future for Dylan. He's my inspiration," Nathan admitted, taking a sip of his Coke.
"What are you getting?" Lucas questioned, scanning his menu.
"It depends, you're paying, right?" Nathan questioned.
"Sure, get what you want."
"Alright, I'm going to get a burger."
"Everything on that menu and you choose a burger?" Lucas raised his eyebrows.
"I haven't had one in a while. What are you getting"
"Steak, I think... Yeah steak." Lucas confirmed.
"How do you like it cooked?" Nathan questioned as he poured the last of his Coke from the bottle into his glass.
"Medium rare," Lucas instantly responded.
"Panic over... We can still be friends," Nathan confirmed with a playful smile on his face.
"I'm thankful about that," Lucas joked.
"You really enjoyed that burger," Lucas commented as they walked out of the restaurant an hour later.
"I said I haven't had one in a while. Besides, I haven't seen anyone eat a cake that fast!" Nathan announced, smiling when Lucas playfully shoved him.
"Whatever, so where do you live?" Lucas took the keys out of his pocket and unlocked the car.
"Why do you want to know? Are you going to stalk me?" Nathan questioned as he fastened his seatbelt.
"No," Lucas laughed, "I'm going to drop you off..."
"You don't need to! I'll be fine walking," Nathan insisted.
"Nate, why walk when I can drive you. It's freezing, you're not walking in this! Where do you live?"
After sitting in the car for five minutes, Lucas having locked the door, Nathan finally gave in and told Lucas his address.
"Thanks for tonight, I enjoyed it," Nathan admitted as he undid his seatbelt.
"Your welcome, we should do it again sometime Handsome," Lucas agreed.
"Definitely," Nathan said, looking down to hide the blush on his cheeks.
After saying a last goodbye, he walked inside, ignoring the warmth in his stomach. The second he entered, he kicked his shoes off and placed them on the rack before he walked straight upstairs heading to Dylan's nursery.
"Hey, Buddy! Daddy's home," Nathan cooed, picking his newly awakened son up.
Nathan presided to change and feed Dylan before picking up his son's bunny, only stopping by his room to take his jacket off and put his phone on charge, before going back downstairs. Nathan played with Dylan until it was the boy's bedtime. After placing Dylan to bed, the teen ate a sandwich before completing his college work.
As Nathan fell asleep that night, his mind was full of memories and thoughts of Lucas.
