"Wait, what?" You asked really taken aback from what he said. What did he just say?
"Do you have a date to the ball?" Harry asked.
You shook your head and you were mentally screaming for him not to ask you. Please, don't ask me. Please don't ask me, you thought. Harry started to slowly smile but you saw George get up from the table.
"I have a girl that would like to go with you. Do you know who it is? Parvati. She's over there. Come so that I can show you where she is. We'll be back," George said. Harry got up and he followed Harry to the other side of the table because she wasn't that far away from them. You hurriedly ate what was rest of the food and you felt Ron, Hermione and Fred stare at you eat. You looked up at them and you pouted softly.
"Are you serious? George hasn't asked you yet?" Hermione asked.
You shook your head and said, "I'm sure he doesn't feel the same which I can't blame him, really. I haven't given him a reason to think otherwise. I'm pretty sure he would like to take Lavender instead of me. I'm happy you both were able to get a date at the same day. I will be at my dorm making sure that I still have my dress before we have to go to practice dancing with our professors. I want to make sure I have everything so that if someone asks me, I am prepared." You got up from the table and you felt so many emotions at that moment but the most definite one was sadness. You were hoping he was going to ask you but he didn't. Now, there was nothing for you to do but to go cry at your dorm. You saw that George and Harry were starting to come back but you didn't care at that point. You hurriedly started to walk to the door of the Great Hall. You opened it with force and hurriedly pulled your hair tie from your hair. You felt your hair rest on your back and you headed straight outside to the Quidditch Patch. You just wanted to remember how it felt to be in the air again because it was one of the many things that calmed you. Why didn't he ask you already? You heard footsteps behind you and you turned rapidly to see who it was. It was Hermione. You lowered your steps so that Hermione can catch up. You felt your face start to heat up but you didn't know what it was from.
"Y/n. I'm sorry about him not asking you," Hermione said, she extended her arm to you and that made you stop walking all together.
"It doesn't matter, Hermione. I'm pretty sure that he is going to ask Lavender and I will just end up by myself. It's fine really. I would gladly love to just go by myself and eat everything that is edible. I'm fine really," you said.
"Y/n. I know you better than anyone here. I know you are not fine. Let's go outside at the Quidditch patch and let's talk there. Is that okay with you?" Hermione asked, keeping her hand on your arm.
You put your hand on your face and said, "Alright, Hermione. Thank you." You both started to head outside and walk through the grass. Watching people on their brooms made you nostalgic about flying again. Hermione started to walk faster than you and you didn't question why she was walking faster than you. She started to get up the bleachers and so did you. She sat in the middle of the rows and towards the middle of it. You weirdly wondered why but you didn't say anything out loud. Finally you reached where she was and you sat right next to her.
"How are you feeling really?" Hermione asked.
You looked at the ground and you placed your feet in front of you. You let out a deep sigh and said, "I feel absolutely horrible. I really thought he was going to ask me because I thought we were getting closer by the day. But, I guess I was wrong which is fine. Perfectly fine. It's not like I wanted to dance with him to some of the most romantic songs ever while looking at each other in the eyes. It's not like I wanted him to ask me the second you all told me about it. I just guess I don't think he fancies me back."
