A boy walks quickly along the pavement. His backpack swings against the small of his back. Beneath his hood you can see wavy blonde hair folding over his head.

As the sun sank deeper behind the city's buildings his steps grew faster.

Even as he glanced repeatedly over his shoulder, he did not see a pair of shadows racing towards him.

An invisible force knocked him to the ground. Two figures crashed onto him. One went for his wrist, the other went for the neck. The boy had heard too many stories to bother fighting back. He knew that this was not a battle.

The shadowed pair disapeared almost as quickly as they appeared. But the boy did not rise to find safety. Instead, he lay there and suffered in silence. Knowing that making any sound would not save him. Knowing that there was no where to go.

He lay there, fully aware that when the sun rose; he would be put in The Steel. He would never see his family or friends again.

The boy wept in his memories of the life he had lost, until they drifted from his mind.
