It was lunch 3 days after my little... incident... with Frank in the bathroom. I was outside in my usual spot, smoking a cigarette. The breeze was cooler than normal, but I didn't care. I heard the door swing open. I already expected Frank to come sit beside me. He did, and I handed him a cigarette and my lighter. "Thanks, darling." He lit the cigarette and took a drag from it.
"Everything doing ok?" I asked him.
"Ah- yeah. How's it going with you?"
"I'm fine I guess. School's kinda beating my ass right now though."
"What are you having problems with?"
"Uh... like all of my classes." I laughed uncomfortably.
"I can have a chat with your teachers if you need some extra credit."
"Really?!" I turned to face him. He looked so handsome in this lighting. The same red tie he used on me in the bathroom was hanging loosely from his neck.
"Of course! I'll help you out any way I can. This is your last year, isn't it?"
"Yeah. I can't fucking wait to get out of this hell hole."
"Hey- Jersey ain't that bad!" He playfully hit my shoulder and I pretended to wince in pain. It was nice having casual conversations with Frank. I wish I could bottle up this memory and save it for later.
After a few moments of comfortable silence I asked, "Hey uh Frank? Is there any... extra credit I can do to boost my grade?"
"Extra credit?" He gave me a flirty look.
"No! I meant actual extra credit, asshole." I rolled my eyes at him and took another drag of my cigarette.
"I'm just playing with you, silly. Besides... I'm already going to give you an A when report cards come out."
"Thank fucking god."
"Maybe if you paid a little more attention in class and less on me you'd actually understand what we're doing."
"That's possible... but I don't think I can just stop staring." I gave him a playful wink.
"You are such a tool, y/n."
"Thank you, Frankie." Again, conversation drifted. The birds chirping from nearby trees gave us something to listen to while the wind gently blew our hair around.
"Y'know, Frank?"
"What."
"I'm really happy I get to be here with you."
"Oh don't get all sappy on me."
"It's true!" I retorted. I scooched a little closer to him and laid my hands around his shoulders.
"Frankie?"
"Hm?"
"I... I think I love you." Frank's face switched to shock, but he didn't look angry with me. In fact, he plucked the cigarette out of my mouth and kissed me deeply. Our tongues danced in each other's mouths. Finally, we seperated.
"I think I love you too." Frank gave me my cigarette back and continued to smoke his.
"What do we do from here?"
"I don't know... keep things a secret I guess."
"That's probably for the best..."
