MARA
"What was that?" I asked, an eyebrow raised in confusion.
"Well, our mother told us when we were younger..."
Sadie started."When we meet our soulmates, we would feel a rush of electricity every time we touch."
Ellie yelled out, causing Sadie to glare at her."Do you do that a lot?" I asked with a chuckle, earning confused looks from the twins. "Finish each other's sentences, I mean."
They rolled their eyes simultaneously, giving me various sounds of annoyance and rejection.
"The only reason we 'finish each other's sentences' is because Ellie has to interrupt me every time I speak."
Sadie complained, causing Ellie to turn red and catch my eye sheepishly."I'm working on it!"
Ellie defended herself, throwing her hands up in defeat.Sadie scoffed, rolling her eyes once more.
"Anyway," Sadie started again, eyeing her twin hesitantly, "What I was going to say before I was so rudely interrupted," She shot another glare at Ellie, "When you meet your soulmate, every touch of theirs feels like electricity."
I nodded, my brows furrowing. So that was what I felt.
"Does this mean we can stop the awkward 'what's your favorite color' phase?"
Ellie asked, a hint of whining in her voice.
I agreed with her until Sadie spoke up again. She seemed to be the voice of reason in their relationship. I guess that meant she was the voice of reason in our relationship now.
"Our connection with the Goddess doesn't mean we know everything about each other. It will be like any other person we meet, we know we are bonded."
We all sat in silence for a moment before Ellie chimed in, asking hesitantly,
"So, what is your favorite color?"
"Green, a forest green, not a light green," I stated before asking her the same question.
"I think mine's yellow, but it always changes."
Ellie informed me, wrapping her arm around my shoulders. Physical touch was clearly her love language.
"What's yours, Sadie?"
I asked, noticing she had sunk into her thoughts. She snapped out of her distraction, quickly blinking a few times before speaking softly.
"Sorry, what was the question?"
"It was 'what's your favorite color,' but now I'm curious what had you so deep in your head."
"Pink."
Sadie said with certainty, ignoring the rest of my sentence. Raising an eyebrow, I decided to ignore it. Ellie rested her head against mine, sighing deeply.
"You smell so good."
She mumbled, causing my face to go red and my eyes to widen. Hiding a smile, I muttered,
"Thank you."
"It's probably just your wolf going crazy right now," Sadie said as she looked up sharply, "Not that you smell bad; I wouldn't say that; I think you smell and look quite nice."
She said, stumbling over her words to confirm I wasn't offended. I gently nudged Ellie off as Sadie was still rambling, looking into her eyes in apology. Ellie nodded quickly in understanding before I placed my hands on either side of Sadie's shoulders, causing her to pause.
