On July. 30, 1945 12:14 AM a Japanese submarine in the Philippine sea's fired 6 torpedoes in the USS Indianapolis only 2 hit it. It sank in 12 minutes of 1,196 men on board approximately 300 men went down with the ship. They died from impact of the torpedoes and drowning. The 900 men left were trapped in the middle of the Philippine sea's no food no water in shark-infested waters. Most men had life jackets but nothing else. The shark started to attack the sunrise of the first day, feeding off the dead first then the wounded. The men of the Indianapolis would stay in groups if a lone survivor strayed away from the group they became more venerable to the sharks..
