MARY DIANA POV

When Chris wakes us up, I have a splitting headache and I just feel awful. I quickly get out of my bed and run out of the door, open it, and then lean over the rail to vomit. I haven't thrown up since I was eleven. I cough and slide down the wooden rail with my eyes closed.
"Are you okay?" I hear Beth ask from behind me.
"Sembrò OK?" I say louder than I thought I was going to say it. (Translation: Do I seem okay?)
"Uhhh... Chris!" Beth yells to Chris. I hear Chris wall over.
"Woah. Interns, clean this up!" Chris says and some interns clean up my waste.
"Mary? What's wrong?" I hear Lewis say quietly from behind me.
"sto bene non puoi lasciarmi solo?" I mumble.
(Translation: I'm fine can't you leave me alone?)
"You guys are so stupid. Owen, Harold, Duncan, DJ, Beth, Lindsay, Trent, Leshawna, Sadie, Lewis and Courtney, give her some space," Gwen says from a few feet away. I hear people shuffle away.
"For goodness sakes man. Lewis go away!" Leshawna says and I hear her smack Lewis I'm the head.
"Alrighty, it seems like Mary is unable to do today's challenge," Chris sighs.
"Can I take your place?" DJ asks only to get hit by Leshawna. I sigh and turn to face everyone. Everyone is still in their pjs. I slowly get up and shuffle over to my cabin door that's wide open.
"Okay so everyone get dressed and meet in ten. Mary, you should get something to eat as well," Chris explains to everyone. Everyone goes back to their rightful cabins and we get dressed. Leshawna and Gwen are giving me sympathetic looks whenever they can. So is Beth and Lindsay. Heather is looking at me with a mix of disgust and sympathy. I get dressed in black shorts and a light gray Italian flag shirt.

I follow behind Chris as he is about to tell everyone today's challenge.
"Bass, Gophers, today's challenge is a true summer camp experience. A canoe trip. You'll be paddling your canoes across the lake... to Boney Island! When you get there, you must portage your canoes to the other side of the island, which is about a two-hour hike through treacherous, dense jungle," Chris explains.
"We've gotta pour what?" Geoff asks.
"Portage." Chris corrects Geoff. A fly buzzed through Geoff's ears.
"Dude, walk with your canoe!" Chris yells annoyed.
"Oh," Geoff laughs.
"When you arrive at the other end of the island, you'll build a rescue fire that will be judged by me. The first team to paddle home and return their canoes to the beach is the winner of invincibility! Move, campers, move! Oh, wait! One more thing I should mention. Legend has it, if you take anything off the island, you'll be cursed forever!" Chris says in a spooky voice.
Thunder claps out of nowhere causing everyone to jump.
"Yeah, haha! A cursed island! Whoo!" Owen cheers
"Now, get in your canoes and let's have some fun!" Chris tells them.
"Yes!" Owen cheers once again fist pumping the air. Everyone walks to the canoes. A toilet flushes and Beth comes running out.
"What'd I miss?" Beth asks worried about what she missed.
"Canoes," Chris tells her simply.

-Confession-

"Chris told us to pick a paddling partner. It was time for me to make my move. If I could just get Gwen alone for five minutes, I knew I could woo her with my manly charms!" Cody explains playing a air guitar.

-end of confession-

"Alright Diana, what do you want to do?" Chris asks me.
"Nothing," I groan as I just feel awful. I walk back to my cabin and walk in. I glance left and then right. Now is a perfect opportunity to snoop around!
I first search through Heather's things. The only thing I found was some stolen food and her cellphone. Im disappointed because I thought I was going to find something good. I sigh and get off the dusty ground. The floor is really dusty and gross. I walk over to where a close of cleaning supplies are and see that they look like they've been in there for awhile.

I take a broom, a dustpan, a big metal bucket, a sponge, and a duster out of the closet and close the door behind me. I take the bucket and make my way towards the bathrooms where I fill it up with water. I rush back to my cabin and start to clean. Im sick, not useless. I sweep the floor and then pour the water on the floor, using the sponge to scrub the extra rubbish away. By the time I'm done washing everyone's sheets in Chris's washer and dryer, I make everyones beds. I light a candle I brought to make the room not smell of cleaning supplies. Now the room smells like warm vanilla and Snuggle dryer sheets.
