Under the hot sun it felt amazing to finally be unrestricted. My first day here felt nonetheless disparate from back home. My friends back home all went to El Paso, even my closest best friend Nicole. She wanted to come to Texas A&M with me so that we could live together, but her parents wouldn't let her and she knew she couldn't disagree since they were paying it all.

Before I left we said goodbyes but we promised to text and call once in a while and when I go back home for winter break we would hang out and talk about our new adventures. So far my adventure consisted of a very attractive neighbor and a criminal attractive motorcyclist.

Did I really just say that? I did think he was splendid, but he was a puzzle.

I made my way to the bookstore on campus and got the books I needed for my classes. Walking back to the dormitory was easy since I knew the path I was taking was going to lead me directly towards it. On the campus there was a lot of people, guys were playing catch in the courtyard filled with grass and no trees. One guy was awfully familiar. His black shirt was clinging to his lean body with sweat. He ran back to the side closest to me with a ball in hand and a glove in the other.

"Go farther!" He yelled out as he gripped the ball and threw it. His gray eyes connected with mine and I wanted to run, but my legs didn't listen. They stopped in place and felt like jello.

He grinned mischievously and ran his fingers through his sweaty hair. His olive skin tone shimmered in the light and I swallowed deeply. Vincent was someone I could not help but not like. He gave off this vibe that said run, run before he kills you. I know I was going a little to dramatic, but that's how I felt.

We lost eye contact when I heard something approaching me, the sound of wind came closer and that's when I looked up. The ball was coming towards me and all I could do was scream. My legs still jello did not budge. I put my arms over my head, dropping my bag of books on the floor.

"You really should watch where you are," that same low familiar voice spoke. He sounded near, and that's when I realized I hadn't got hit. I picked up my head and saw the dirty white ball in his glove.

"Yeah, I guess I should," I spoke. I wanted to through up after what happened.

"You don't like me very much do you?" He asked me. I wasn't going to outright say what I was thinking this time. I grabbed my books off the floor.

"I just don't talk to strange men, exactly what I said earlier," I replied in a monotone voice. I still don't know how I did that.

"No you said you don't talk to strange men with motorcycles, didn't you?" He said back, that cute smile still appearing on his face. Before I knew it I started biting my lip.

"Hey Vince! You going to play ball or what?" A guy across the field yelled out.

He turned towards the guy and threw the ball, his muscles flexed and his shirt sleeve slipped back. At the top of his arm was a tattoo. He threw to fast that I hadn't noticed exactly what it was.

"I have to go, see you around?" he said as if he was asking a question. Nothing could come out, he made me feel anxious and nervous.

"Yeah," the word came out quickly and I was actually glad it came out.

He turned around, but not before his dimples appeared around that genuine smile.

Beautiful

The words came out faintly inside my head and I couldn't help but feel like the voice wasn't mine.

It sounded so deep and loose, familiarity.

I went back to the building before he noticed my gnawing. All the buildings appeared old, but held unique clarity. walking through a big patch of green and surrounded by trees with hammocks I saw a tree, giant and spoken with leaves of a deep shade of green. It was like the tree held something down under its roots through its branches and dropped out onto its leaves. I grabbed my phone and took a picture for my dad. I sent it to him and with a reply seconds later, "That's beautiful." The word beautiful was stuck in my thoughts roaming about. I began walking back, my legs were feeling tired after driving and walking.
