~23 Days Until The Prophecy~

Fliss

When Professor Dwiggin showed up, Fliss knew that he carried bad news upon his shoulders. You could see it in his eyes, in his body posture.

It made Fliss anxious.

Twenty three days.

That's all they had left.

And she still didn't even know what the damn prophecy was.

She sat squashed between Alex and Zack, Twink and Professor Dwiggin sitting opposite them.

"The prophecy is set to come true in twenty three days, so mark it on your calendars folks, the twenty first of December."

"The shortest day of the year." said Alex, his face grim.

Professor Dwiggin nodded.

"Indeed so. I'm afraid that Immundus has already turned a lot of the Other World against us. People are starting to get scared. It's time we act."

Silence fell over the table.

"We need the sorcerers." said Alex simply.

Twink looked up, her face uncertain.

"I agree, I mean, I am a sorcerer, after all. It's just that my fellow kin might not be as easy to persuade..." she trailed off.

"Why not?" Fliss asked, interested.

"Doesn't everybody want to kill this Immundus guy?"

Twink winced at the sound of Immundus' name.

"Not everyone wants to kill Immundus. People think he's the Saving Grace of the Other World." said Alex softly.

Fliss puffed out her cheeks.

"Why don't you ask the vampires then?" she grumbled, feeling stupid.

Four pairs of eyes fell on her.

"What? They don't exist, do they?" she asked moodily.

Alex squeezed her hand.

"No, vampires do exist, Felicity you're a genius!" he said, making a small smile appear on her face.

"Well, if you say so--"

"But the vampires are disloyal!" Twink blurted out, sending Fliss a dark look as if that was her fault.

"And their leader, Valentine, she is deadly."

"All the more reason why we need them on our side when Immundus attacks." Fliss said smoothly, like she had a clue.

"Twink, she has a point." said Zack, nodding at her.

"Oh sure! Let the mortal save the world, why don't you? She can't even summon a flame and you're acting like she's God--"

"At least I'm actually trying to help."

"Cut it out." said Alex, scolding them both.

Fliss blushed, while Twink scowled at her.

"So it's settled. We'll have a meeting with Valentine then." said Professor Dwiggin cheerfully, standing up and brushing down his emerald coat.

"Thank you, Mister Merrick for your help, thank you to you too, Twink." he said, beaming at them.

He turned to face Fliss and Alex.

"Alexander, Miss Potts, we must go. I'm sure that Valentine wouldn't like to be kept waiting." he said holding out his hands for both of them to take.
