THE CURSE

Chapter 24

After much walking, Selena, Alex, Anna and Khan made it to Robert's house. Selena felt something in this house. A dark being with a powerful aura. Her gut feeling was in overdrive and she guessed that powerful aura was responsible for it.

"You guys should trust me" Selena said gravely. Khan shuddered a bit at how low her voice became but they trusted her and so blindly followed her. She followed her gut feeling feeling past the west wing and into the dark hole in the wall. They felt themselves being teleported to another realm. And just like Jackie they landed hard on abandoned weapons.

Alex felt a dark shadow pass. He shivered, goosebumps on his skin. Selena felt something off. It was easy..way too easy. The rest felt it too. Suddenly a scream pierced through the darkness making them jump in fright. Something told Selena to run and she did

"Run!"

Out of the shadows emerged that fiendish skeletal creature. Selena grabbed the frozen redhead and ran as fast as she could. Ignoring the branches that cut her face and skin. Ignoring her aching legs and the injuries from their fall. The skeleton in a swift motion grabbed Anna and Alex with its bony fingers, grinning. Anna screamed as she struggled to free herself as did Alex. Selena wanted to go back but Alex screamed "No!!" as bony fingers pierced their skin. Tears blurred Selena's vision as she ran. Her heart racing. She tightened her grip on the red head who was too frightened to speak but tears streamed from his eyes.

Oblivious of a stone, Selena tripped, stumbling with the red head and then falling down the wastelands through the metal door of the house. She landed hard on the floor with the redhead on top of her. She shielded the boy with her body, so she was weak from the impact. She hugged the traumatized boy, rubbing soothing circles on his back. The boy clutched her tighter, trembling.

Selena waited till the boy stopped crying and winced as she sat up. She was covered in grime, blood and bruises. With her aching body, she carried the boy on her back, still trusting her gut feeling. She walked down the dimly lit hallway. It was a slow and painful walk. She felt her body give up on her and she fell through a door, landing right in front of Soren

"My, my, what what do we have her?" the boy asked. His heterochromatic eyes sparkling with curiousity. Selena's vision was clouded but she managed to make out Jackie's green eyes

"Jackie?" She whispered before giving into the darkness.

Jackie's eyes widened

"Selena?"

Selena felt someone watching her. She opened her eyes to see a pair heterochromatic eyes looking at her. The owner of the mismatched eyes smiled at her, revealing the dimple in his left cheek.

"You're awake. Finally"

Finally?

"Yes,you were unconscious for quite sometime"

Selena looked at him. He was the same age as her but Selena knew he was probably older.

The boy smiled "You are most certainly right"

He reads minds?

"Of course I do. You are smart. I like you already"

Selena looked around. She was on a bed. Her injuries were gone and so was Khan. Her eyes widened

Khan!

"Relax. The red head is fine and so are the other two"

She sighed. She was still suspicious of the boy. He was being awfully civil and nice to her
