The New Teacher

The Hug

It was the next week and it was time for Ruby to turn in her English assessment. She wasn't sure if Marilyn was going to like it or not. She also wanted to know why he was on the phone to Twiggy. What were they talking about? As Ruby got to school she was nervous. How would she confront Marilyn. She liked him and she didn't want to lose him because she was listening in on his phone call. As Ruby walked into class she sat at the back and tried to hide herself. She tried to gain the courage to ask him plus she was about to hand in her assessment on him.
Just before the class ended.
It was time for Ruby to hand her English assessment. As she looked around she could see quiet a few of the other girls had done theirs on Marilyn too but hers definitely looked the best. As Marilyn went around collecting the posters and finally got to Ruby. She was just folding hers up so he got a glimpse of her poster and saw his name. He suddenly let out a small grin and took her poster.
"I hope you like it." Ruby said quietly.
"I know I will." Marilyn said a little louder.
Marilyn then took all the posters back to his desk and sat back down. As he did so the bell went and the class was over. All the kids left and the girls who did their assessment on Marilyn all smiled at him but he payed no attention. Once most of the kids had left Marilyn started looking at the posters to start marking. He opened Ruby's first. That made Ruby blush. As soon as he saw it he started blushing and grinning. Ruby walked over to his desk.
"Told ya you'd like it." She said while laughing.
"I love it." He said.
There was actually a small tear in his eye. Ruby was trying to gain her last bit of courage to ask Marilyn about the twiggy situation.
"He....hey....Marilyn?" Ruby said while stuttering.
"What's up darlin." He said while looking up from her poster.
"I heard you were on the phone to Twiggy the other day." Ruby said while gulping.
"Oh. You heard that." He said with a sad face.
"Yeah. I uh didn't mean to ears drop or anything."
Ruby sighed.
"Look. I really care about you. I know I shouldn't of listened in and I'm sorry. I just don't want to loose you." Ruby said with tears.
"Oh hun. You won't loose me. I love teaching all of use, especially you Ruby." Marilyn said while smiling.
Hearing this made Ruby cry even more. Marilyn got up from his chair and hugged Ruby.
"Omg he's hugging me." Ruby screamed in her head.
He rapped his arms around Ruby and made her feel comfortable. He then stepped back and held her hands in his.
"Twiggy wants to start the band back up again but I told him no. I like being a solo artist and I love teaching. I'm not going anywhere." He said while smiling.
Marilyn wiped the tear from under Ruby's eye and tucked her hair behind her ear.
"This was so magical. He hugged me and held my hand!" She told herself.
"You better get off to class missy. I don't want us getting into trouble." Marilyn said while winking.
Ruby listened and walked out while waving at Marilyn. When she turned around for the last time she saw Marilyn looking down. She knew he was checking her out.
"Marilyn!" She said while giggling.
"Now we're even." He said with a smile.
