When I got off the plane I was told, per the letter, to look for the sign that said TikTok on it, well that wasn't hard because I found it almost instantly and I saw a few other girls also waiting by the sign. All the girls standing there were drop dead gorgeous. How could I compete against them? Their long thick blonde hair, bright blue eyes and bright pink lips made my dark almond hair and green eyes pale in comparison. I scanned the group for any familiar faces and my heart stopped when I seen her.
Kaylin, the girl I was friends with for over 16 years, standing there with her hand on her hip and her other hand picking at her nails. She looked bored with the other girls around her. Just knowing that she would be apart of this meant that any guy I showed interest in, she would too just to spite me.
We stopped being friends about three years back just before I moved from Illinois to Tennessee. She was a good manipulator, she used to lie and deceive everyone in her life about different things but the one thing we all had in common was that she cherished nobody but herself and nobody ever questioned her loyalty. She had a way of making you feel special, like you meant something just because she needed something from you. But if you ever got in a fight, which I had, then she sought out to destroy you. I thought when I left Illinois it'd be the last time I would ever come across her. Boy was I wrong.
She suddenly looked up and scanned the group of girls and when her eyes reached mine she stopped. Daggers flew my way and I could feel the hatred that burned from inside her, heading towards me. Her eyes stayed cold and dark blue but her lips however, curled up into a sinister smirk. She was already plotting my demise and this whole thing hasn't even officially started.
I broke eye contact with her when I seen a guy dressed in a nice purple and blue suit head towards us.
"Ladies I know you're all anxious to get to the mansion, so let's do a quick head count and then we can get you onto the bus!" The chipper voice came from the man who was short and stumpy, his smile was huge and his eyes were gentle. He seemed genuine and kind.
"Brooke" he read off, a tall brunette girl steps forward smiling and replied "here".
"Melissa" he reads, a short chunky girl shoves
through the girls in front of her and very loudly yells "I'm here suga" in a southern accent. 'Great a southern bell with an attitude.'
"Kaitlyn?" He questioned the pronunciation. I watched as Kaylin rolled her eyes and stepped towards the man. " My name is Kaylin not Kaitlyn, can't you read?" She said in a condescending tone. The mans cheeks flushed red as he looked down at the paper checking her name off the list.
"My apologies miss" he mumbled. He continued to read off the list until he got to the last name, mine.
"Katherina?" I looked up at the man, a small smile on my face I nodded at him, he returned a smile back and crossed my name off the list.
"Okay ladies, now that I know were all here, we can head to the mansion where I'll give you a tour and explain the rules."
All the girls cheered and hollered excitedly as we all followed the man to the bus. We filed onto the bus and I sat towards the front. I always hated riding the bus back in high school I was terrified of it crashing and me dying among my other peers. I tried to think more positively. I wonder how big the mansion truly is, I wonder how many girls have to share a room. Will the guys be staying in the house with us or will they be staying elsewhere? Will he notice me? I hope I don't lock up and forget how to talk if he addresses me personally. I put my headphones back in, laying my head on the back rest and closed my eyes.
"'If I had one wish, we would be best friends
Love would never end, it would just begin
If I had one wish, you would be my boo
Promise to love you, trust me I'll trust you
If I had one wish, we would run away
Making love all day, have us a baby
If I had one wish, I'll make you my whole life
And you'd be my wife, make it right this time
We gon' pop a bottle to this'" Ray J sang in my ears as I felt the bus come to a halt. I opened my eyes looking out the window I saw the giant mansion that took my breath away. My jaw dropped as I took in all the scenery , the waterfall on the far left of the mansion, the fountains all over the front lawn, the flower gardens that curled around the fountains. It was absolutely breathtaking to look at.
"Okay ladies go ahead and head inside and wait in the parlour for me." The girls didn't waste anytime unloading the bus quickly and heading inside. I waited patiently until the line of girls ended so I could get off, as I did I realize Kaylin had slowed waiting for me to catch up. I didn't look forward to hearing what she had to say but I'm not going to fight with her, I'm here to met the man of my dreams not fight with her. I walked past her not even stopping. I could hear the clicking of her shoes behind me.
"You know how this will end, if you run your mouth about me and tell them anything I don't want them to know, I'll end you" she threatened. I couldn't help a small snort come from my nose as I glanced back at her and then back to my path.
" I haven't thought of you since the day I left you behind, why would I start now?" I challenged her. I walked in through the giant, wooden double doors and walked up to the end of the girls. I felt Kaylins presence beside me, but I ignored the temptation to look over at her. I wasn't going to give her the chance to ruin this for me. Things can't go up in flames if there isn't any ignition.
" Okay ladies, there are five bedrooms and ten of you so pick a girl to pair up with. And then we will go on a tour and I'll answer all of your questions".
" I have a quick question, what is your name?" One of the girls spoke up.
"Oh yes I'm sorry, my name is Simon. I'll be your host and I'll be in charge of your needs and comforts" Simon said popping his collar confidently. The girls whispered among themselves pairing up. I walked over to the tall brunette from earlier, Brooke, and smiled at her. She returned the smile. Neither of us said anything but we stood next to each other. I feel like I'll get along with her. She seems to be quiet and reserved like me. Simon clapped his hands to get everyone's attention and motioned for us to follow him.
After the tour ended we began to get settled into our rooms, Simon told us that in an hour the guys would arrive and we would get the opportunity to meet and talk to them. I was excited and scared to death at the same time. I was thrilled to be here and to have the opportunity to meet him but at the same time terrified because I had such high expectations for a man I've never met. What happens if he isn't what I pictured in my head? What if he doesn't like me?I heard loud screaming and giggling come from outside our door, so I headed to the door and saw the girls shuffling down the stairs, one girl passing by, Nancy, I think was her name said, "Come on the guys are here!!" She screeched loudly and ran down the stairs. I looked back at Brooke and she smiled while rolling her eyes, I laughed and we heading out the door and down the stairs. I swallowed hard and walked into the living room where I saw him.
