A little bit like Cinderella

Chapter 5

(Lea's POV)
Dark.
That's all I could see. I didn't know where I was and what was happening. I couldn't remember anything at all.
My whole body felt really heavy. I couldn't even lift my arm up. It's like there's was an elephant on top of me. Not only that but I felt severe pains everywhere. My eyelids were way to heavy to open them so I didn't bother trying. What was going on?

Suddenly it's like my ears opened and I started to hear some faint beeping noises, like the ones from monitors. I couldn't be sure since I've never really heard one or seen one so I just left it at that.

I don't know how much time passed but suddenly I felt movement on my arm. What the hell is on my arm?! Why is it moving?! Then all of a sudden it started to speak to someone else. Wait hold on. I know that voice. Claudia. CLAUDIA!!

Just the small thought of Claudia made me gain my memory. Slowly and one by one, All of my memories came back. It's surprising actually, how fast I remembered. But I wished I didn't. I was probably in a hospital. But how? Who called an ambulance? Did Claudia come home and find me? But she wasn't supposed to come home till 3.

I focused my attention on the voices once they started talking again. "She's s been in a coma for 7 god damn days!! When is she gonna wake up?!" I'm pretty sure Claudia asked. Who was she referring to?

"Miss, please calm down. I'm not 100% sure. She was beaten up almost to death. I'm not sure if she'll even make it. All I know is that her heart beat has increased the slightest bit so that's a good sign. Sometimes it helps if they have some that talks to them. Even if there not up, they could still hear you."

I'm guessing one of the nurses said, If I was indeed at a hospital. Were they talking about me? Have I really been in a coma for a week? I hope she leaves so Claudia can talk to me. She always knows what to say when I needed her the most. If only I could respond back.

They talked for a couple more minutes until the nurse final left. During that time, I've established that I'm for sure at a hospital. Which is weird since I've never been outside of the house.

Great. First time out of the house and I end up at a hospital. Lucky me. The first time out of the house could of been to a shooting range or to an amusement park and I would be with maybe a boyfriend or Claudia. Not at a damn HOSPITAL with wires hooked up to me and me feeling like I'm trapped by wires and needles in me. This must be hell number 2.

"Lea? Is it true that you can hear me?" Claudia asked in a voice barley louder then a whisper. I could hear the tears in her voice. I felt like crying. She was so hurt. I didn't like the way she sounded. She sounded tiered and stressed. " I'm SOOOOO sorry Lea. I should have stayed with you. I should have never left you. I should have tried harder to help you escape. It's all my fault."

Is this girl serious right now? How in the world is it her fault?! It's not her fault her mother has a messed up brain and likes stealing babies and then punishing them. She tried her best. And I'm thankful that I at least had someone to help me.

Without her, I would be literally dead. She doesn't know how much she actually helped me. I'll be sure to tell her when I wake up. And I decided it was time to let her know I can hear her.

With all my strength (which wasn't much) I focussed on moving my fingers because she was holding my hand. I counted to three. One, two and three, 3 out of my 10 fingers moved. " OMG!! Lea you just moved your fingers!"

No shiz Sherlock. Of course I moved them. "Lea if you can hear me try to move your fingers again." Who does she think I am superman? I already used the little energy I had.

But I had to let her know I could hear her. Once again I counted to three and this time surprisingly I felt myself move all five of my fingers on my right arm.

She gasped. "Lea I'm so glad you can hear me. Don't worry I'll be here for you until you get better and don't worry about Verida. She thinks that your on the verge of dying in your room because I told her I couldn't stand seeing something so ugly and worthless so I locked you in your room."

After that, she told me what happened from the beginning of the day, how she was trying to find my parents to how she was surprised there wasn't a hole in the waiting room from all her pacing while I was in the emergency room.

During that time, I moved here and there to let her know I'm still listing to her. I was so happy that she was talking to me. But I had to talk back. So I decided to try to open my eyes and talk.

While she was rambling about who knows what, I very slowly opened my eyes. I soon regretted that as a bright light made me go blind. I didn't want her to notice, so I slowly opened my eyes again and I soon got used to it. My throat felt incredibly dry.

"Water" I croaked. The next thing I know is Claudia's full attention on me and tears were instantly in her eyes. She looked horrible. Like really horrible. She had bags under her eyes and her eyes were blood red, probably from crying a lot. Her face was pale as chalk with fresh tear stains.

And don't get me started on her hair. I swear a bird found her and made a nest out of it or she decided to go live in a jungle without a brush. She was a mess.

" Omg! Your awake! Finally. Oh Lea I was so scared you weren't going to wake up. I'm so glad you did. I promise you I won't let anybody else lay a single finger on you." "Water" I said again. I would talk to her if my throat wasn't dying of dryness. "Oh right"

After a few glasses of water, Claudia called the doctor. They all rushed in and was surprised to see me awake and moving.

I was more then happy to see someone finally caring for me and my wounds. All these years I had to heal them with whatever Claudia gave me and myself.

I don't know how many minutes passed but it seemed forever until they were finally done all of their tests. Was it supposed to take this long? Oh well. I'm not the expert.

I was about to ask the nurse when I can leave when the doctor came in with a worried face. "What's wrong" I asked.

"Something is  wrong and I'm afraid you won't like it."
I froze. I felt Claudia stiffen at the sound of that. Suddenly I heard the monitors beeping faster and faster until everything just went black.
