8-Spying on the lovebirds

Harry wakes up from the sound of someone singing. He lifts his head and looks around in confusion but he's alone in the bedroom. It takes a second for his brain to register that the singing is heard through the baby monitor. He lays back down and listens to Louis singing a Madonna song in a soft voice.
"Cause we are living

Harry smiles happily and his heart is beating fast. He gets out of bed and heads over to the nursery. He stops and leans against the door frame. Louis is standing by the window looking out while he rocks William back and forth. William has his chubby arms around Louis' neck and rests his head on his shoulder. He sees Harry and lets out a squeal.

Louis turns around and blushes.
"He woke up and you looked so comfortable so I went to check on him. I changed his diaper."

"Thank you." Harry smiles and then he can't help but add "And then you turned into a material girl?"

Louis's cheeks turn an even deeper red.
"You heard me?"

"Yeah, baby monitor. You have a beautiful singing voice, Lou." Harry says softly.

Louis just shrugs his shoulders and looks out the window again.
"What do you say about taking this little guy outside after breakfast. You have swings and a really cool pirate ship out there."

"Sure." Harry beams.

Three pairs of eyes watch them during breakfast but they're too consumed with each other to notice. They dress warmly after they have eaten and head outside to play with William. They take him to the swings and take turns pushing him and William giggles.

Niall, Zayn, and Liam all have their noses pressed against a window, spying on them.
"Aaaw, look how cute they are together. They look like a family. I'm dying!" Niall says.

"They're adorable." Zayn agrees with a fond smile.

"But look at Harry. He's smiling and laughing. He seems happy. I haven't seen him this carefree in ages." Liam says.

"They really bonded quickly." Zayn states.

Niall stares at them in surprise.
"Guys, Louis is that Louis."

Zayn and Liam look confused for a second but then Liam's mouth fall open.
"No way! The boy he met that summer?"

Niall nods his head and Liam gets excited. Zayn still looks like a question mark tho.
"What boy? What have I missed?"

"Louis is Harry's, first love. They spent a summer together when he was like fifteen. He came back after his family vacation and all he could talk about was this Louis. He really loved him and it took him a long time to get over him." Niall informs Zayn.

"Really? That's crazy! And now he's here!" Zayn says with big eyes.

They look out the window again to see Harry and Louis chasing after William. They're all laughing. Liam gets a little teary-eyed.
"It looks like they're not really over each other at all."

"We're witnessing a beautiful love story unfold." Niall says dramatically.

"I'm happy for them. Harry needs someone like Louis and God knows Louis deserves some happiness as well." Zayn says emotionally.

"What do you mean?" Liam wonders.

"This is between us guys. Louis told me that he's been homeless since he was seventeen. His dad kicked him out when he found out that he's Gay." Zayn tells them.

Niall gasps in horror.
"That must have been after their summer together. That's awful!"

"Heartbreaking." Liam agrees.

"Yeah, Let's get away from the window before they see us." Zayn says.

Niall glances outside.
"I don't think that we have to worry about that. They only have eyes for each other but we should give them some privacy."

Harry and Louis stay outside until it's time for lunch. William almost falls asleep at the table.
"Come on sleepyhead. Let's put you down for a nap so I can make some business calls." Harry smiles fondly.

"I can put him to bed. Go make your calls." Louis suggests.

"Yeah? Are you sure?" Harry asks and bites his lower lip.

"Absolutely." Louis smiles.

"He wants the yellow duck when he sleeps." Harry says before he kisses the top of Williams's head and goes to his office.

Liam, Zayn, and Niall have followed their conversation like it's an intensive tennis game. Their heads have snapped back and forth between them, almost giving them whiplash.

Louis takes William out of his chair and takes his hand. They walk up the stairs together.
"Harry really trusts him with William." Niall says.

At dinner, they get a new surprise.
"So I have decided to sell the company." Harry informs them all.

Niall, Zayn, and Liam stare at him in shock but Louis smiles.
"That's great Hazza. Have you found a buyer?"

"Yes. I talked to Dad's foreman Mr. Stevens. He loves the company as much as my dad did and he got really excited. He's the right guy to sell it to. He will continue my dad's legacy." Harry beams.

Louis squeezes his arm.
"That's wonderful. It sounds like the right decision."

"Yeah. Thank you for talking to me about it. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders." Harry says and they gaze into each other's eyes.

"So what are you gonna do now?" Liam asks and Niall shoves an elbow in his side for interrupting their moment.

Harry looks over at the boys.
"What? Oh, I have applied for a local college part-time. I thought I should try it out and Louis has offered to help me take care of William. Right?" He says and looks at Louis again.

Louis smiles fondly.
"That's right. I'm so proud of you."

Harry blushes.
"Thanks. I also found online courses for you. I thought you might wanna finish high school for starters."

Louis stares at him with glossy eyes.
"I would love to but ehm, I can't really afford it Haz." He mumbles embarrassed.

"Well, it can be a part of your Nanny payment." Harry winks.

"I don't want you to pay me, Harry. You've already done so much. I just want to help out." Louis says upset.

"Please let me do this for you. You deserve to finish high school, Lou." Harry pleads.

"I'll think about it." Louis mutters but he's smiling.

Zayn, Liam, and Niall have awkwardly pretended that they're not there, listening in on a private conversation so when Harry turns to them they almost choke on their food.
"Wanna watch a movie with us?"

"Ehm, would love to but I'm super busy." Liam says.

"Yeah me too, another time." Zayn says and scrambles to his feet.

Harry looks at Niall.
"Oh look at the time. I have Rhodesian that needs attending."

They all flee the room and Harry looks at Louis with glittery eyes.
"I guess it's just you and me then."

"And William." Louis adds.

"Of course." Harry smiles.
