I watched the smoke leave his lung in swirling tendrils as he takes his final breath before throwing the cigarette bud on the floor and stamping on it to extinguish the glowing flame. He looks around the empty parking lot before slowly turning around. Thoughts of her rush through my mind only to be stopped by the feeling of leaves brushing against my hand, the sweet aroma of the small pink buds filling my senses.

Realizing I might miss my chance I quickly aim my gun at him and pull the trigger causing him to fall to the ground with a resounding thud as blood starts to bloom on his stark white shirt right between his shoulder blades. The bullet pierced his heart in an instant kill. Turning away from the now lifeless body I face Shadow, a fellow club member, and nod giving the signal for him and three other prospects to dispose of the body.

I rise from my crouched position behind a set of bushes, brushing off the leaves and dirt that had made their way onto my jeans, before casually removing the silencer from my most prized possession and storing the two halves in the inside pocket of my cut while walking down the rough worn-out pavement, my biking boots making it easier to on the cracks without tripping. It only takes a minute to reach the corner of the block where I left my bike. My black beauty, as I liked to call her, was a mat black Harley Davidson.

Swinging my leg over like I had done a thousand times before, I whip out my phone to give Hawk, our club's president, a call. After a few moments of silence Hawk's gravelly voice came through the line 'Gunner, everything goes according to plan?'

'Yeah, everything went well. He won't be allowed to hurt anyone else for a very long time.' I replied sternly before he goes on to remind me about church in an hour.

I felt no remorse for killing him, after all, he was the reason that she was no longer alive.

I felt no remorse for killing him, he not only killed my mother but had raped and killed many other innocent people. Including his daughter.

The sick fuck

twelve months earlier (flashback)

Blood covered the walls in a gruesome display of crimson as I walked through the old tattered hallway of my childhood home. The metallic coppery scent lingering in the air hitting the back of my throat and filling my lungs with every inhale. I followed the bloody footprints that lead to the front door from the living room, the door frame held a dark handprint of dried blood that didn't skip my attention as I made a mental note to check it out later.

Who did it belong to?

Once I entered the living room my blood ran cold only to be replaced with grief as I saw my mother laying on the floor in a puddle of her blood, the deep scarlet contrasted sickly with her now pale skin.

she would have looked so peaceful if it wasn't for the deep gash across her throat and the knife that was deep-seated into the center of her chest. Slowly I made my way over to her grabbing her favorite hand-knit blanket off of the old worn down leather sofa along the way. I looked around to find out who would do this to someone as sweet and gentle as her, someone who always had a smile on her face even when she didn't feel like it simply because she didn't want others worrying about her. She was the only family I had left and knew she was gone. Memories played in a small part of my mind, like a short movie that only I could see. Her being there in my toughest times. Coming back home to the smell of freshly baked goods, that she had made simply because she knew I was having a bad day.

kneeling beside her a burning rage replaced most of my sorrow as I became determined to find and kill whoever did this. With a heavy sigh, I place a kiss on her forehead, the feeling of her ice-cold skin against my lips sending a tremor down my spine leaving goosebumps in its wake. Unfolding the blanket I laid it over her body, giving her face on my look before covering her up completely.

Standing up I walked into the kitchen and I couldn't stay in that room any longer. Leaning against the sink I allow my head to drop down as grief washes over me once more, taking a couple of deep breaths I remove my phone from my pocket and call Hawk. A click passes through the speaker the sound of my voice, rough from unshed tears, echoes on the line "she's dead" that's all I said, it was all I could say and all that needed to be said Hawks reply was almost instant "we are on our way" the call ended. Even his voice sounded rough. Most of the club members had met her and had automatically fallen in love with her, they all saw her as a mother figure so I knew that they would all be there to help with planning everything.

It took exactly 10 minutes for everyone to arrive. Hawk and Shadow walk over to me the moment their eyes land on me while the rest go into the front room, most likely to pay their respects. They both placed a hand on my shoulders not having to say a word, they both knew them just being here was comfortable enough.

It seems like an eternity of silence before it's broken my Hawk.

"Kill the fucker that did this" looking over at him I take a steadying breath before looking him dead in the eye.

"I plan on it" my voice sounding cold even to my ears.

And I will not rest until one of my bullets is embedded in their heart.

Even if I end up dead in the process.
