Once Minerva was done explaining everything to the new students, she turned on her heels and headed towards the Great Hall. Telling them strictly to stay put. Stella made her way down the few stairs that had separated her and Minnie from the students.
She was headed directly for Fred and George. They caught sight of her and met her halfway, pulling her into a big, joint hug. They were a lot taller than Stella remembered but then again it had been quite a few years.
"Miss me?" She asked with a smile, looking up into their equally happy faces.
"Of course!" They said at the same time, quite loudly, attracting a few looks from the chattering students.
"I missed you guys too" Stella admitted as she laughed.
Though she may not have seen it, Fred blushed slightly at her words. Since getting his Hogwarts letter he had been ecstatic about joining the school however the thought of a special someone being there made his stomach flip.
Being friends from such a young age had meant that they become extremely close. While George saw Stella purely as a friend, Fred had always liked her just that little bit more.
Though he would never admit it, even to himself, Fred liked Stella. A lot.
Fred had suddenly realized he'd drifted off into a daydream as Stella and George had started talking.
"Well I kind of hope I'll be in Ravenclaw," Stella said.
"I mean we're Weasleys it would be mad if we weren't put in Gryffindor!" George replied and Fred nodded along in agreement.
Stella laughed "True".
Minerva's shoes could be heard clicking back down the corridor and everyone's talking came to an abrupt stop.
"We're ready for you now," She said "Follow me".
The group of around forty-ish children followed Minerva into The Great Hall. They passed through the big gold doors and were greeted with an incredible sight.
The ceiling had been enchanted to look like the night sky, stars and all. Thousands of candles were floating above the students bringing light to the large hall.
There were four, long, dark wooden tables running the complete length of the hall, stopping just before the steps up to where the professors sat. Each table was full of people, all different ages, staring at their new peers.
As the group made its way through the hall, everyone looked completely astonished at the sight around them. Stella, however, had seen this all before though she had to admit it felt extra special this evening.
They came to a stop just before the steps. In front of the teachers' table was a simple wooden stool and upon it was an old, ragged pointy hat, that was a worn down shade of brown. Everyone knew what this hat was the famous Sorting Hat. This was what would sort them each, into one of the respective houses.
Gryffindor seen as the colour red and known for being brave and courageous.
Slytherin seen as the colour green and known for being cunning and ambitious.
Hufflepuff seen as the colour yellow and known for being loyal and friendly.
And finally,
Ravenclaw seen as the colour blue and known for having wisdom and wit.
Minerva picked up the hat with her left hand and was reading off a piece of parchment in her right. " When I call your name, you will come forth and I will place the sorting hat on your head and you will be sorted into your houses."
Stella started to get nervous and could sense that everyone else felt the same. She looked up at Fred, who gave her an encouraging smile.
Lots of people had been called up and been sorted into various houses, in including George who was unsurprisingly put in Gryffindor.
"Fred Weasley"
Fred gulped and gently pushed through the people in front of him. He sat himself on the stool, as McGonagall put the hat on his head.
Aaah... I see... the second Weasley twin eh? Well there's not much questioning on where to put you... better be...
"Gryffindor!"
Fred grinned and hopped of the stool. He walked over to the Gryffindor table and sat down next to George. He sent a wink towards Stella, who was clapping loudly for him.
Finally Stella's name was called and she walked up to the stool and sat down. Minerva put the hat on her head and she jumped slightly as it started to speak.
Ahh, Stella my favourite. I've awaited this day for some time... now where to put you. Hmmm you posses great kindness, perhaps Hufflepuff?.... although I see courage, bravery, maybe Gryffindor? .... ahhhh yes your intelligence is shining through well then I say....
"Ravenclaw!"
Stella hopped off the stool in delight as she grinned at Fred and George who were standing up and applauding her. She made her way towards the Ravenclaw table and sat down next to one of the previously sorted students.
As the last few were sorted, Stella looked over at Albus who gave her a genuine smile and wink. Stella grinned back and continued clapping.
