Melony^^^
Mel!! Come on we are going to be late!
I'm coming, I'm coming!
You said that 20 minutes ago!
Well I'm coming now!
Uhg, whatever, come on!, I said running out the door.
She ran out the door a couple minutes later with her jacket only on one arm and her backpack hanging off, I couldn't help but giggle at her. We still had 10 minutes before we actually had to leave, but I told Cammie Id meet her at the Coffee Shack and pick her up. Her mother left her there this morning because she was late for work. The walk from there to the school was only like a few minutes, but it was cold outside. So I offered her a ride, her father won't buy her a car because she accidently wrecked his mustang last month. By the way, Cammie is my bestie. We've been pretty tight since 1st grade, and here we are graduating in a month, so like, life long besties lol.
Cammie^^
Melony got in the car and saw it was only 7:10 on the stereo clock. She slowly turned towards me and had the meanies face, and I couldn't help but bust out laughing at her. She hit me on the arm really hard and threw herself back in her seat releasing a loud "UHG!!". I just chuckled and backed out of the driveway to head to get Cammie.
In a few minutes we pulled up and she was standing just inside the door waiting. When she saw me she smiled and ran out to the car. After she hoped in the backseat we started making out way to school.
"Thank you so much Vi!!! I really didn't want to walk to school in this cold weather!"
She just happened to say this while quickly rubbing her hands together and breathing out a puff of chilled air.
"No problem Cam! I know you'd do the same to me"
"Totally"
We both laughed. Mel was looking out the window with her arms crossed. I drove past our school a couple miles, and stopped at the elementary. Melony is in 6th grade, she'll move up to our high school next year. I'll be gone though.... I pulled up to the doors, and she opened her door before turning around to grab her bag.
"Have a good day, text if you need something"
"Yeah, whatever"
"Hey, watch your tone with me, you wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for me!"
A look of sorry crossed her features, and she lightly nodded at me.
"I love you, now you have to go"
"Love you too"
That's all that was said before she shut the door. Cammie sighed in the back seat, and for a little while, I had forgotten she was there. I drove forward and out of the driveway, heading back to our hell-hole.
"Incoming!!" is all I heard before I was almost kicked in the head, and DID get kicked in the shoulder. Next thing I knew, well Cammie was no longer in the backseat.
"Bitch watch what your doing, we could've had a wreck"
"You know that was funny"
I rolled my eyes trying to fight back a smile and we both laughed a little. By now we have pulled up to our school and parked. I looked out the window at all of the groups of kids loitering around. They were all smiling and laughing and walking around or leaning up against things. I found myself wondering what it would be like if everything was different. If we had a lot of money, if mom was a lawyer and actually loved us. If she was the mom who baked and asked you how your day went every night. If we had a nice 2 story house with a green yard and a bright white house with a beautiful inside. With the cabinets stocked full of groceries, and all of the bills paid and everything on. What if.....just what if everything was different. I heard silence, and just a light echo, but I couldn't tell what it was. I didn't bother to worry about it.
"Vi?" I heard the echo a little louder but still confused.
"VI!?" the sound came again.
"VIOLET!!!"
"WHAT!" I screamed back just now realizing she had been shaking my shoulder also.
"I've been yelling your name for 5 minutes, where did you go?"
"I was just thinking....."
"About?"
"nothing..."
"First of all I don't know if you know this or not, but what you said to her was over the line. You shouldn't have gone there. And second, you keep zooming out on everything, what's up with you, seriously.
"Yes I know that, but I've just been really stressed out lately. I'm turning 18 in a couple months, then me and Mel are getting our own place. I just don't have the money working at the diner. I already don't have the money to be paying bills at our current house. I don't have the money for groceries either. I've been having to buy small things here and there. We don't have electricity, we only use the water to drink, shower, and brush our teeth. We use the same paper plates over and over. We mainly eat chips and junk. Mom helps herself to the food and water and never talks to anyone or helps. I just can't....This isn't the life I want for her. It's not right. She shouldn't have to eat very little every day, or barely drink. The highest quality food and drinks she gets is at school, and there food tastes disgusting. I just can't..."
"I think I might be able to help with that...."
