*flashback to Margot and Cass' childhood together*
My eyes flutter shut as sleep starts to consume me. The sound of the credits of the film Mr and Mrs Smith rolling signalling the end of the movie. My head snuggled up to my favourite pillow at Margot's house.
"That was amazing!", she yelled with excitement. I jump waking up from my sleep. Margot's yelling scaring me awake as her voice echoed off the walls.
"That went fast". My slumber was so close but so far because of Margot's excited outburst. I open my eyes that were begging to be shut and as I glance over at the clock above the television, 11:45 pm, god. Margot had been begging me for a movie marathon and as an avid movie buff I agreed but after the 3rd movie, I was ready to hit the couch and pass out. Mr and Mrs Smith was one of Margot's favourite movies of all time, and she never missed playing it at all of our sleepovers. I had probably seen the movie over a dozen times and definitely didn't have the heart to tell her that I was half asleep throughout the entirety of this snooze fest of a film. She had been begging me to watch for the 13th time with her over the past few weeks and I finally gave in.
"Yeah," I say as the biggest yawn exits my mouth.
"I'm not even tired" She chirps as she stretches her arms wide. I lay my head down on the pillow and tucked myself underneath a ton of blankets I had meticulously laid out on the couch in the living room to let sleep envelop me finally. Margot notices my silence and glances over to me, "What the heck! I knew you were asleep" She yells, I jump from my fetal position to face her.
"No! I swear I watched the whole thing!", I respond, trying to put the most sincere face on.
"Nono! I know you were asleep so don't even pretend that you had half a clue about what was going on in that film". she says a bit annoyed. Margot's always been obsessed with movies and literally every time we hang out we watch at least one. "Margot we've seen this movie more than a hundred times now, how are you not sick of it?!", I exclaim. She huffs and crosses her arms as she seeps back into the couch cushion sulking.
"It was boring anyways when you become an actress then I'll watch them but these are lame as", I say leaning over to her to get her attention as she tries to ignore me, finally giving up I lie back into the couch.
"It wasn't boring, It was freaking amazing and you were asleep anyways how would you know?!", she says glaring at me.
"Oh yeah?", I say challenging her antics. "T-this movie is the same as every other romance/action film, where the main characters are undercover spies. The plot is so cliché!" I exasperate sitting up from my relaxing position and throwing my hands up in the air. "The main characters fight and then decide they love each other again after lying and almost killing each other which is insane!" I take a breath "and decide to ignore the fact that they had been horrible partners to each other and save the world together. It's completely unrealistic!!", I say now standing on the couch waving my arms around like a lunatic.
"Wow..." Margot says in utter shock. "I didn't think you were this invested in the genre but I see you now for who you truly are", she says with a dead serious face. I stare at her now standing on the couch looking down at her. Our faces are serious for a beat until we both break out laughing. I sit down in slight embarrassment as Margot is practically wetting herself, laughing at my random outburst Mr and Mrs Smith rant. " If you feel so strongly about it, why not write about it then!" she laughs out.
"Okay", she says as she dramatically wipes away the non-existent tears streaming down her face. "But c'mon, you have to find Brad just a tiny bit attractive...right?" she says looking at me excitedly, awaiting my answer. I was never really the type to fangirl or be open about which celebrity I would let have my babies much like Margot would, and I for sure would not willingly go crazy over Brad Pitt's face but I know that if I wasn't head over heels for him right now, Margot wouldn't let me hear the end of it. I could hear it already..."Cass! You have no taste in men! I don't even know why I even ask!"
