the next day alex was released from the hospital but she thought it was weird that severide didnt visit her or came to pick her up. the woman went to her house first to get her car and then she went to the firehouse and everyone shouted. "heyy, look who is back." hermann yelled and hugged her. "hey, guys. do you know where severide is? i've been trying to call him but he didnt pick up." chief boden stepped forward. "he asked for the shift off." she nodded. "okay, i'm gonna go check on him. see you guys later." she got to her car and drove to severide's place. the woman knocked on the door and he opened it but just far enough that she couldnt see inside. "hey, what are you doing here?" she frowned. "i came to see you. why didnt you come and see me?" he sighed. "why? we were just casual right? its not like we were really a thing." then she heard another female voice. "babe, who is it?" severide closed his eyes and sighed. "babe? oh i see. you got me out of a fire which i ended up in the hospital to save you and now you are banging someone else?" he shrugged his shoulders. "i dont know what you want me to say." alex chuckled. "my brother got to you didnt he? what was his story now? that i am not ready for a relationship or that i'm mentally unstable or that i throw myself into one too fast?" severide expression shifted. "there it is. just for the record if he told you that i went through failed relationships, its not because of me, he chased them away. i seriously thought you were different kelly. that you would have the balls to trust me and not turn your back at me. looks like the joke was on me for thinking that it would actually work with you." he sighed and she pushed the door open. the other woman looked at her. "dont worry. i just came here to thank him for getting me out of the fire. i didnt get the chance to. have fun. see you next shift lieutenant severide." he swallowed hard for seeing how she looked at him now. alex walked out of the apartment trying to keep her tears in check. once she was behind the corner tears fell down her cheeks.

later on at molly's alex was laughing with a guy and hermann was watching her. "what happened with her and severide?" casey asked. "i dont know man but something is up. she asked for time off. i know something happened when she went to see him." he sighed. "they are adults. let them handle it themselves." alex and her friend got up and wanted to leave. she looked drunk and hermann stopped her. "hey, what are you doing alex? what happened with you two? did you just move on to the next one?" she clenched her teeth. "let me get one thing straight. nobody and i mean nobody has the right to get into my business. so mind your own." she looked angry and left with her friend. hermann shook his head and went back behind the bar. "there is definitely something up. the look on her face wasnt anger that was pain." casey took a deep breath. "she is right. she'll talk to us when she wants to. its none of our business."

the next day severide came in and got the evil eye from hermann. "what?" he shook his head. "what did you do?" the man shrugged his shoulders. "what man? you look at me like i killed someone." hermann chuckled. "i thought i had to have your back when i should have had hers." severide looked at the rest and they werent too happy either. "what? why is scout here? where is alex? shouldnt she be on shift?" cruz chuckled. "she took the shift off. she told the chief that she wasnt feeling well to come back." severide nodded. "then she probably needs it. its her body." he walked further to the lockers.
