Secret Letters (Part-11)

Thomas felt very week,he couldn't stand properly. Jessica bring him a chair and said him sit there. Thomas sat down and started speaking.

" Yes.. at last I had to accept everything. I know what I did was wrong but I was forced to hide myself from you all. Jessi, you remember that night when I informed you that I had leave next day for Dubai? That night I went to a party and I was totally drunken. I couldn't even drive the car properly and hit a man crossing the road. The man died. It was late night and the road was empty. I couldn't understand what to do and I called Jack and informed him everything. He reached there and threatened me that if I won't give him a huge amount of money, then he will inform everything to the police about this accident. I promise him that I will pay him the amount but I need some time to arrange it. So, he said me to leave for Dubai and stay there and arrange the money for him. I really don't know why he wanted that amount of money from me. He arranged me everything and next day I left for Dubai. But unfortunately, I couldn't arrange the money within the given time."

" And that's why you killed Jack, right?" Tony asked by interrupting Thomas.

" No..no..I had already told you the truth, Sir. Please allow me to tell everything to Jessi and John otherwise they will misunderstand me. After one month, I informed him through letters that I want a year more, which our security guard used to send it to Jack. He agreed to that. And shared a plan to me as police was in search of me at that time. He said me that he will inform Jessi and John that I died due to a major accident. In this way I will be safe there and could arrange the money for him. But the thing is that it was impossible for me to arrange that amount, how could he think that I could arrange it, poor boy!".

" Through letters you both used to converse?" Jo asked.

" Yes.. Jack had already informed our security guard that a man will come and give a letter to him, he just have to gave it to Jack secretly. And after reading the letters he will burn it off. For four continuous years I wrote him letters asking for more one year of time. As day passed it became very difficult for me to keep my body and soul together and how he could think that I will pay him the money, greedy boy. And also he informed me that this is the last time, if I couldn't pay him then he will surely inform the police everything and I will be inside the jail."

" Could you pay him the money this time?" John asked.

" Huh..no..no I couldn't. I came here for last time that day to give the last letter of mine that I can't pay him the money. It's better for him to put me inside the jail. But when I reached there and gave the letter to the security guard, he informed me that Jack is no more, he had been murdered yesterday. I got shocked and asked how it had happened but he said he don't know anything about it. Due to some problems, I couldn't get back to Dubai next day. So I have to wait for few days. So, I went to Smith's house to stay there because I trust him and knew him for many years. I had said everything to you all, it's up to you."

" Hmm.. you yourself came here to give the last letter to Jack even after knowing that he will inform everything to police? Ah.. your story is very boring let me add some twists in it. Tony give me those.."

Tony gave him few pieces of papers.

" What are you thinking these are just few pieces of papers, no these are the letters which Thomas used to write Jack. Jack hadn't burnt them off. He kept them carefully with him. And fortunately I got them all. But the main thing is that the last letter you wrote to him is dated as 6 months ago from now and here you mentioned that you want to meet him directly in his home at 1:00 a.m. sharp. And the most interesting thing is the date when you want to meet him, it's similar to that of Jack's murder date. Now what should I think of it Thomas?"

Thomas started shivering," from where you got these letters? Jack said that he had burnt them off. I don't know anything.. please.. please trust me."

" That's not the main thing. We expect that you will speak up the truth without wasting our time because you know that you have no other option but we have an another option and I think you want us to apply it on you. So, speak up fast." Jo said.

" Yes I met him that night but I haven't killed him." Thomas cried.

" Then who killed my son..who?" Jessica asked.

" But I know who killed Jack. She did it." Thomas said by pointing his finger towards her.
