-Plot: Deku that Jumped-

 It would probably start here.

"Don't lump me in with these losers. I'm the only one with the chance to be a hero. These guys will end up being a sidekick to some busted D-lister!"

"Oh, Midoriya, you put here that you want to go to UA High too." the teacher SO KINDLY points out.

Our St. Patrick's themed cinnamon roll probably thinks along the lines of,

'Is this teacher trying to get me killed?!' and closes in on himself before the most controversial character in the series comes up to his desk, slams his hands on it, and burns it.

"Deku?! You're even worst than these worthless rejects! You're quirkless!" Bakugou proceeds to lift him up by his collar and sneers,

"So don't even try to go to UA and fail worse than you already are."

Cue school bell ringing, like the sound that starts off every high school movie in existence and

BOOM

Thanks boom boom boy! Right on time!

We see our unfortunate protagonist get blown away from his desk and fall on his butt while Explosion Boy goes on an arrogant rant (oh and blows up our precious boy's notebook) that ends with the MOST RECITED LINE IN THIS GOSHDARN FANDOM:

(........at least, in angsty plot-based fan-fics)

"If you wanna be a hero so bad, why don't you take a swan dive off the roof and hope you get a quirk in your next life?"

After our protagonist leaves that horrible school, he gets attacked by the dubbed 'slime villain' and ALMOST DIES until All-Might comes through the sewers and saves him but blowing a sucker punch through the air.

When he leaves and ignores the child that almost died, da da da, Midoriya grasps onto All Might's leg like a leech, and they fly through the air until All Might realizes there is a literal 115 pound piece of broccoli dangling off his leg!

Of course, All Might wants to get the child to let go and fall a mile down, which ya know, Midoriya reminds him isn't a good idea, and they take a quick stop on this random roof. Fast-forward to the important part, Izuku Midoriya asks,

"I'm just a normal boy without any powers. Could I still hope to become an amazing hero like you?!"

All Might thinks for a second before telling him,

"Pro heroes are always risking their lives, and some villains can't be defeated without powers, so no, you can't become a hero."

CRASH

I could almost hear the vase of his dreams fall and break into tiny pieces on the floor through his expression.

All Might leaves our boy, Midoriya, to his heartbreaking thoughts. HAVING THE AUDACITY to leave him with broken dreams , quipping to remember what's 'realistic', and the BIGGEST SECRET OF THE CENTURY (AKA: his Small-Might form).

The fact that he left Midoriya there after being attacked by a villain and having his dreams invalidated by the number-one hero, without any encouragement or intervention with the authorities is truly irresponsible and one of the many reasons why All-Might is a horrible role model and pillar in their society, which I will rant about in another chapter that I am so excited to publish.

Honestly, I overlooked the sheer audacity that both Bakugou and All-Might exhibited when they had said those things when first watching this episode because, as seen in many, many fan-fictions, it was discriminatory and thoughtless and lead to Midoriya's reevaluation of his dreams and if was ever worth it. This scene could've easily ended up with Midoriya either

1. Choosing to become a Villain.

 - This idea is usually accompanied by the much recited quote, "But you never said I couldn't become a villain." WOOOOW WORD ASSOCIATION Am I Right People?!

- So many fan-fictions have been written on this exact topic, so my advice?! Don't write something that is in this category, especially if it has the quote above. If you shall do it anyway, for originality's sake, include this scene as a flashback or start your story with Midoriya waking up or falling (more Intensity, am I right?).

- I would add examples, but I don't have any specifically interesting ones that come to mind, for said reasons, or want you to read ones like this. (Except for 'Darkside' by Sesake, which I recommend, although the beginning is basic, it is quality work!)

2. Jumping

- It don't work, either due to the wind of chance or a quirk he didn't know of.

+ In 'Back Again' by ThePurplestWriter, Midoriya commits suicide and whoopdedoo! He has a quirk that revives him where he died, except slightly altered in appearance, so no one recognizes him.

+ In one of my favorites stories, which was unfortunately deleted, was called 'Relive Your Memories' and started when Midoriya first commited suicide by jumping out his classroom window and found himself shift back to before he was told by Bakugou to jump. Technically, his quirk rewound himself to about 24 hours before he killed himself, which was very useful to prevent or go through villain attacks as well as create immunity to specific forces, like death by jumping or cutting.

+ 'Worthless Necessity'by KiriteRyujin gave our abused protagonist a self-healing quirk that would only activate on necessity and on the requirement that he had to want to die. Beautiful writing, man. If your too lazy to find their account and work, look at my reading list!

There are also many other plot turns from this exact scene, which I put in list form for your convenience. (Honestly, the fact that these weren't tropes that I've already written is appreciable.)

- comes home and decides that he will become an inventor, and eventually gets into the UA Support course.

- comes home and decides to start operating in the underground, either as a hacker, info broker, or crime organizer

- studies to become a detective and meets up with Tsukauchi (Example: 'The Detective's Ace', which was ALSO DELETED Goshdarnit!)

- continues in his music career and writes sad, heartbreaking songs (weirdly specific but I digress)

- continues a normal life but comes across relevant characters, carrying with him a distaste for heroes and their role in society (A great example of this is '-I'll make you pay-' itz_neom, a dabideku work that I adore!)

- tries to prove Bakugou wrong and studies and trains intensely enough to be the first quirkless student in UA's hero course, usually being a baddie at the same time

- jumps and recovers. His relationship with 'Kacchan' turns into a romantic one through regret, forgiveness, and plot development.

- becomes a vigilante in a select few, usually with the help of a tutor, either Chizome/Stain: The Hero Killer or an OC

In some works I've read, authors will insert a time skip much like:

"Insert the scene between him and All-Might where his dreams are crushed"

That is how memorable and over-used this scene is to start a My Hero Fan fiction!

This scene I wrote out from memory and haven't watched in 5 months!

At the end of the day, It is a major point of the anime's plot and is useful for plot turns but can become predictable if the plot is merely one of a trend, which deters readers immediately. I recommend that once you read a story that starts with this scene and ends in a specifically categorized way, don't read others, except to support your friends.
