No.
"W-What?" Lisa's body stiffened as she felt her heart stop momentarily. Jennie liked her? As in, actually liked her? No. The thought had her heart moving again, rapidly and pounding against her ribcage.
She can't. She can't. She just can't.
Lisa suddenly felt terrified. She could feel Jennie's grip on her waist tighten with her own heart beating in a faster pace against her.
"I like you Lisa." Her tone was determined but soft, careful, scared even. Jennie was scared. Jennie was serious. Lisa shakily exhaled as she slowly untangled her legs with Jennie, a breathless strained chuckle following afterwards,
"You're joking, right?" It was Jennie's turn to freeze in her hold hearing the silent plea in Lisa's tone. As if she was begging for Jennie to tell her she was just joking. Maybe even smirk playfully while giving her another one of her horrible pick up lines that never failed to make her cringe and laugh simultaneously.
But then Jennie pulled away, sitting up and searching Lisa's fearful eyes that grew desperate to see her damn smirk. Please smirk...
She was serious.
"You can't be serious," she whispered, fear clear in her voice mixed with a hint of disbelief. Lisa sat up as well, scooting backwards till her back was pressed against the wall behind her as she felt her gaze slowly looking horrified and she wondered if Jennie could see that look. And maybe she did because a flash of worry flickered in her soft expression.
"Lisa, I mean it." She did. Jennie's eyes looked determined, her expression calm and collective but her lips quivered, her fingers held the sheets underneath them tightly. Her knuckles were whitening and trembling. Jennie meant it.
Lisa feverishly shook her head, "Y-You can't," she whispered, wincing as her voice shook and from the hurt in Jennie's eyes. She looked so hurt, Lisa was hurting Jennie and damn it, she didn't know what to feel, do or think. All she knew is that she needed to get out.
"You can't like me Jennie," she spoke out a bit firmly. Jennie winced and puffed out a shaky breath. Lisa watched Jennie force out a grin and she was suddenly feeling sick. This cannot be happening.
"I think it's bit too late for that," Jennie tried lightening up the mood but Lisa was already sliding off the bed and rushing to put on her shoes. "Wait, Lis, if we could just talk!" But Lisa was ignoring her. Her heart was confused and she couldn't breathe. She couldn't think. This is a new territory she was not ready for.
"Please, don't leave," Jennie sounded so weak, so vulnerable. Lisa had never seen this side of her and she wished she never did. She knew she was leaving her own room, but she just needed space. She needed to be away from Jennie. Her sweet scent, her affectionate eyes and touch was just too much for her. She was confused.
Lisa's hand was already holding the door knob when Jennie's touch was holding her wrist tightly, but still so gentle. She didn't want to hurt Lisa and the thought only made her gut twist even more.
"Please Lis, if we could just talk--."
"You can't do this to me Jennie. You can't like me," Lisa hated how weak she sounded, how it hurt to just say those words to the person that grew important to her. "Take it back, please."
Lisa couldn't even look at her to know Jennie was in pain. She could feel the hurt radiating from her touch. Jennie's grip loosened but it never faltered away,
"I can't just take it back Lis. We can't brush this off. It's out there so can we please talk about this? I'm not asking anything in return okay? I just needed to tell you because Lis, you're incredible. You're so wonderful and amazing and just so damn important to me." Every word that was escaping Jennie's lips sounded so right and that scared Lisa even more. She's never felt this burning fire in her chest and it was frightening to even admit.
