I lay alone, sprawled across the sofa as sweat began to gather in small droplets on my forehead; I almost felt as if the bags under my eyes were weighing down my face, along with my hair that simply fell off of the edge of the couch in a pathetic, limp manner. As I rubbed my eyes, causing the little make up I was wearing to smear, my hazy vision caught a flash of orange as my boyfriend approached me. "Ed," I croaked in relief, reaching out as much as my currently weak muscles allowed me to. He frowned at me lightly, a look of sympathy flickering across his face as he came closer, crouching down by the sofa so he was level with me. "I came down to see why you weren't coming up to bed," he explained, gently adjusting a strand of hair and neatly tucking it behind my ear. "What's wrong, darling?" He cocked his head as he examined my condition, though still smiling slightly as he continued to admire each aspect of my face. "I feel horrible," I moaned, longing for his warmth as I attempted to pull him in closer. "Right, I'm gonna have to borrow Ellie's car and get you some pills," I pouted in response. "Stay," I pleaded, my arm tightening around him weakly in the failing attempt to trap him. "I promise they'll make you feel better, okay? I'll be back soon, beautiful. I love you." He finished before planting a light kiss on the top of my forehead, exiting the room. I lay there weak, missing his presence already as a impatiently awaited his return
(Ed's POV)
Ellie was asleep so I felt bad for borrowing her car without her consent; I felt like I was taking her too much for granted but I couldn't bare to see Rosie like this. I grabbed what I assumed were her keys from the desk and headed quietly out the front door, assuring not to make too much noise. The rain was heavy tonight; each teardrop-shaped drops of water splattered carelessly and heavily across the concrete floor and tarmac, leaving small pools of water in which the rare light reflection would contrast with the dark sky. I loved the rain a lot. The noise was so comforting and the sight was so relaxing, something about it just put me at ease; but it wasn't my priority right now. After briefly admiring the view, I unlocked the car and hopped in, a shiver running down my spine as an affect of the cold weather. I didn't have a driving licence, but I knew more or less how to work a car, how to drive one. I'd done it before so it wasn't that much of a deal, though I chose not to mention it to Rosie, the last thing I wanted right now is for her to worry. I put the car in gear and pushed down on the acceleration pedal, eager to get there and back soon enough so I could see Rosie's perfect face again.
The headlights seemed to reveal nothing but more tarmac and the heavy rain that accompanied it, already evident by the light thudding sound made by each droplet that collided with the glass of the windscreen. I turned the wipers on, making my view slightly, but not a whole lot clearer. I fumbled around, wondering if I had my glasses on me before being startled by a loud screeching sound, similar to that of tires against a wet road. Too late, I came to the realisation it was coming from this car. Grabbing the wheel in panic, I desperately attempted to remain on the road, though the vehicle was already dramatically out of control due to the unsecure texture of the ground. I impulsively spun the wheel to the right as I attempted to get away from the danger zone, when a truck revealed itself, smashing against my side of the car, causing it to hydro plane as the impact was threw against my body, shards of glass also flying in all directions around in the car. My heartbeat seemed like the only sound there as my surroundings hushed to a silence, though I could still feel the sharp materials ripping through my delicate skin as a sensation of stinging pain ran rapidly through my veins. The vehicle became completely up turned, the distorted shape of the car now crushing my ribs as I lay there immobile, wondering how long I would have to endure the scrutinising pain that was exploding throughout my body.
