The elevator dings signalling that he already reach the first floor of the company, once he got out from the elevator his foot steps resonating the whole room, his attention was caught by someone, well, someone standing near the reception, that new but familiar face, her short hair became short but he knows exactly who's the person is.
"Yana?" Jungkook mumbled.
He's been frozen and staring when Yana's attention caught him too, snapping her head towards Jungkook's direction, smiling immediately once their eyes met.
"Jungkook!" Yana called already walking towards him breaking him from being frozen on his feet.
Yana Cho, the girl from his middle school when he transferred to Busan when his parents divorced, the only girl he became friends with but everything changed with that one time, when he rejected her.
"What are you doing here?" Jungkook asked recovering from his thoughts.
"Oh! Straight to the point are we? No hi? hello? how have you been? nice to see you again?" Yana chuckled acting hurt by Jungkook's way of approaching her.
"It's been a while, so what are you doing here?" Jungkook asked nicely.
Flashback
Standing in front of everybody, in the room where he doesn't know a single soul, with a clammy hands Jungkook stood up in front of everyone while his teacher introduce him to the class.
"Hello, my name is Jeon Jungkook, it's nice to meet you all" Jungkook said with firm and steady voice, bowing to everyone and walk towards his assigned seat at the last row.
Sitting on his chair, fixing his things on top of the table, with his notebook and pen ready to take notes of what the teacher is discussing, there's a girl next to him, a beta smiling sweetly towards him.
"Hi! I'm Yana Cho, I hope we can be friends" the girl next to him said enthusiastically.
Jungkook being a shy boy just bowed a little, flashing a little smile while saying "Yeah, sure"
The class flow like a calm river, without knowing it it's already lunch break already, Jungkook got out from the class heading straight to the school cafeteria, after ordering his foods he walk towards a vacant table, he doesn't know anyone here so he settled with just eating alone and he's somehow okay with that until he felt like someone is walking towards where he is with a tray full of foods and a smile on her face.
"Can I sit with you?" Yana asked smiling sweetly.
'Maybe she's just friendly' Jungkook thought before nodding his head letting out a small "Sure" and go back to eating his food.
"So Jungkook right? Where are you from?" Yana asked, starting a conversation with him.
"I'm from Seoul" Jungkook simply answered, he is not the type who open up that easily.
"Oh that's quite far, but why you transferred here?" Yana again asked.
"For some personal reason" Jungkook said sounding sorry for not telling the real reason.
"Okay! So I noticed you still didn't know anyone here, so I guess I can be your friend, friends?" Yana said handing her hand for a handshake.
"Okay" Jungkook reluctantly said and accepted her hand for a quick handshake.
The lunch break go by with just Yana mostly talking about her friends and family, there he learned that she came from a broken family too but her parents split with a messy break up, and she's now living with her dad because according to her, her mother already have another family so she just stick with his dad.
She's talkative but that's okay since Jungkook himself is so shy and not really a fan of talking so much specially with someone you just get to know.
As days became months, and months became years, they somehow get close, they used to eat lunch together and talk in class and Jungkook manage to create more friends with his classmates and adjusted in their environment.
Until that time comes, on the day of their graduation day, wearing their complete school uniforms, holding a piece of certificate signifying that they already need to go and start a new journey in high school, after taking their class photo, group photos with friends and classmates, with the click of the camera Jungkook and Yana smiled brightly holding the certificate showing it proudly.
After taking how many photos they can't even count, Yana approach Jungkook again, shyly fidgeting her hands and looking down until she reached the alpha, the whole scene was seems to change the moment Yana let out those words to Jungkook that leave the alpha frozen on his feet.
"I like you Jungkook, since then, when I first saw you when you transferred, I already know I'll like you, not just a friend" Yana said straight to the point looking directly onto his eyes.
With a heavy sigh, with his eyes showing apology, Jungkook rejected her, letting go of those words "Thank you, but I'm sorry I can't give that back to you, I'm really sorry Yana"
Yana give him a smile that shows sadness but still smile and hug him for a good bye, since that time they didn't have the chance to talk and see each other until Jungkook go back to Seoul again.
End of Flashback
After meeting Yana in their company, she insisted to go for a coffee to catch up, according to her since it's been so long since they've talked again.
They are now currently sitting inside a cozy cafe near the company, with Jungkook settling with a cup of americano and Yana with her chocolate chip smoothie and cupcake.
"So~ how have you been?" Yana curiously asked.
"I've been good, taking over the company soon, how about you?"
"I'm great! I'm just here in Seoul for some important matter" Yana said smiling.
They talked and talked, reminiscing about those old times during their middle school year that the two of them didn't even noticed the time.
"Kookie?" someone called that caught the attention of the two, turning their heads toward the direction.
"Tae?" Jungkook mumbled locking his eyes with Taehyung who seem shock looking at him talking with another person, a girl, who's Taehyung didn't even know.
