"I'm going to miss the hell out of you!" Jordie exclaimed before wrapping me up in hug

"I'm going to miss the hell out of you!" Jordie exclaimed before wrapping me up in hug. We swayed side to side for a moment and gave each other a warm smile once we pulled apart.

"Hunny, it's only a week." I said with a laugh, which caused her to roll her eyes.

"Just because spring break doesn't last that long doesn't mean I won't miss being with you. But with how you're acting, I take it all back."

I tried my hardest not to burst into laughter, and simply rubbed her arm to let her know I understood where she was coming from. I thanked God everyday for allowing me to have a roommate I genuinely considered a friend, because the horror stories I've heard made me terrified to share a this close space with someone else.

"Is your mom coming to pick you up?" She asked after we piled our bags into the hallway.

"She is, actually." I said with a sigh.

After my confession of feeing abandoned, my mom decided not to hide away from the topic and instead remained honest with me about what was causing her grief. Hearing that she and Jay were now separated left an odd feeling in my heart. I tried to dig deeper for the reason as to why, but my mom was adamant about keeping some portions secret for they were 'unnecessary for me to know.'

Regardless of what took place, I still couldn't help but feel so confused as to how things fell apart. Jay was the person I knew my mom needed to balance out her hectic life, and now with all of us kids in the equation, I would have expected for them to be stronger and closer than before. He didn't strike me as the man man who would abandon his family as my father did, but honestly ... what did I know? It was evident that him and my mom wanted to keep things under wraps, but I had already planned to go see Jay once we touched down in the city; I'm continuing to hold on to this slither of hope that maybe he'd tell me the truth.

"Uh oh, you don't seem happy about that.." Jordie mumbled underneath her breath.

"Well, it isn't exactly the ideal way to go about things since I'll be embarking on an 8 hour drive with a 4-month old pregnant lady who has to pee at each rest stop."  ... "Besides, I haven't even told her about my plan to switch majors."

"Girl, you are playing with the devil; the last day to switch was yesterday!"

"And I did! I just need her approval on paper to switch things over."

"Have you thought about what you'd do if she doesn't approve?" She asked while we walked to the elevator.

Before responding, I hiked my duffel bag higher up on my shoulder then let out a sigh. "I really don't know. I have a feeling she won't be too upset about it, but I also don't want her to feel like I'm letting her down."
