Chapter 9: "Fun" Night

You and Clem are walking around outside at nighttime. Kids are talking with each other by the buildings and others are walking down the grassy streets.

When Louis said that there would be a movie theater set up, you and Clem thought you could both use something like this right now.

You both walk around the corner and to see a giant screen being set up on a stage. Kids and teenagers are sitting on blankets, having conversations before the movie starts.

You look up at a barn to see people working on a projector that sticks out of the hayloft doors.

Clem: Huh.

You look at Clem.

You: What?

Clem: Nothin'. Just kinda weird to see that people still do this. Go to theaters, I mean.

You smirk.

You: You kiddin'?

Clem looks at you.

You: Movie theaters were never goin' away.

You look at everyone on blankets. You look at the people talking.

You: It's crazy, huh?

Clem: Yeah, I didn't think people would still know how to make movie theaters.

You: No, I mean...all of this. Even in a world as crazy as this, people are still together. Still building. I mean, I honestly thought we'd wake up to find people that look different.

Clem: It's kinda weird how everything but humans evolved.

You: Yeah.

Louis: You guys made it!

You both turn around to see Louis walking.

Clem: Hey, Louis.

Louis looks at the movie screen.

Louis: Pretty cool, right?

Clem: Yeah, it is.

Louis: I mean, seriously. When's the last time you guys saw a MOVIE?

You: Well, I don't think you'd believe us if we told you.

Louis: Still haven't given up on that, huh?

You: Not yet.

Louis chuckles.

Louis: Alright, well...what was the last thing you watched?

You: Ever hear of Fast and Furious 16?

Louis: Uh... No.

Clem: What about Die Hard?

Louis: Nope.

You: What about Star Wars vs Star Trek?

Louis: Look, I don't think there's a single movie you can name that I've heard of.

Clem: Well, you did ask.

Aasim: Has it started yet?!

You all look to see Aasim and Willy walking up.

Louis: Nah, you're all set.

Willy: Good.

You: So you guys do this every Friday?

Aasim: Yeah. There's not really that much to do, so this is pretty much the only thing anyone ever looks forward to.

Louis: You guys wanna grab the blankets or something? The screen'll be set up any minute.
