Chapter 03

The boy slowly stood up, positioning himself to fight with the fists up on the air, looking at the smaller male in front of him with fear clear in his eyes. Althought he wanted to take the man down, he didn't have his knife in hand, and he sure knew his bare hands wouldn't be able to do the job.

"Y-You...", Eren muttered under his breath, taking a few steps further away from Levi. "You're not human... What... What are you?...".

The man tilted his head, approaching the teen without hesitation. When he was close enought he scretched a hand, reaching for the brunette's locks of hair and grabbing it strongly, bringing Eren's head to his level.

"That's what I told you the other day, you brat", his voice was a soft whisper, loud enought so just the two of them heard it.

The boy couldn't move. His eyes were glued on Levi's. "Y-You're crazy", he spat, in the same tone the man was using.

"Tch", the raven snorted, pulling away from the brunette, before turning his back. "Stupid brad, be quiet, we need to get out of h-".

He couldn't finish his sentence, as his body was pinned on the ground by the teen's much bigger one. "I-...", Eren stuttered, clearing his throat before continuing. "I'm going to kill you..."

Levi cringed, trying to get his face off the snow, before cursing at the boy. "You fucker. Get your stupid moron virgin ass off me before I do it myself", his voice was stern, and it made the teen shiver.

But he couldn't back up just now. He had gone to far and he knew he would get killed either way, ,o he did the first thing that came into his mind and dug his nails on the man's pale neck, hearing his breathing become heavier.

"G-et off-", his voice was now filled with anger, but he still did nothing to stop the brunette. "Now-".

But the only thing that Eren could hear was his own heartbeat, fast and strong, as drums in his ears. So when it hit him, he was caught completely off guard, falling on his back, right by Levi.

His golden eyes met the creature's brown ones as it's mouth opened, revealing rows of sharp yellow teeth. It went to rip his throat apart in one swift move, but as fast as it came, it was taken down.

The boy couldn't think straight as he looked up. Levi towered over him with a frown, eyes glued on the wolf's dead body. His hands were covered with the animal's blood and his neck had a few red bruises, caused by the boy.

"Let's go," he didn't look at Eren, and his voice was as stern as before. "Now".

The teen gulped, getting up on his feet as fast as he could and following Levi closely behind. He wanted to scream and run, but something deep down his mind told him not to. Besides it, the raven had just saved his life.

They kept on walking for a little bit, getting closer and closer to the river, until the running cold water was just by their eye sights.

"Do you..." the man started, sounding a little worried. "Do you know how to swim?".

"W-What?...", the boy let out in a small voice, trembling from head to feet. Although he wanted, he couldn't look up from the ground, and had his eyes glued on the white snow before his feet. "I don't-", his voice broke.

"Tch", Levi finally glanced at the teen. When their eyes met, Eren felt a jolt of electricity through his body. The man's silver iris glowed with something the boy couldn't distinguish. "Fucking brat... Just make sure not to let go of my fur".

"Your...", he didn't understand what the raven had said, when he started hearing cracking noises. "Fur?...".

The sounds were coming from Levi's small figure. He was now laying in the ground on all fours, his clothes laying by his side, his head bowed down and his back arched as if he was in pain. Eren observed the scene before him astonished, but he had no will to move.

The big black wolf had the same height as the man it once was, and it's fur was as dark as his hair. It's beautiful silver eyes darted in the boy's direction as the creature huffed impatiently.

"Y-You're L-Lev-", he couldn't finish his sentence, being interrupted by a loud howl a few meters behind them.

The wolf then decided to take the first move and jumped on the teen, grabbing his shirt with it's sharp white teeth. Eren trembled with fear, but didn't hesitate to throw his long arms arround it's body, grabbing it's fur as they dove on the river's icy water.

All Eren could hear was the water that surrounded both of them, and all he could feel was the wolf's muscles pressed against his body as it swam them to the other side.

When they finally made it, the teen fell hard on the snow, shaking with both adrenaline and cold. If they didn't find shelter soon enought, the boy would die, and Levi knew it. 

The creature growled lightly, trying to cacht Eren's attention but only receiving a soft 'hm'. It crawled slowly to the boy, biting his shirt once again and pulling his body over it's own. After a few seconds, when it felt the teen's hands wrap arround it's neck, it started to walk away, glancing at where they came from and finding a few pair of eyes hungrily watching them.

Eren looked at their sides, observing that the forest was slightly deeper on this side. "L-Levi?", he called, staring at the wolf's dark fur and hearing a soft growl. He thought for a while, before deciding what he would ask. "W-why did you save me?...".

As expected, he didn't get a answer, but he knew Levi was thinking about it, and when they finally stoped, in front of a small-looking cave, he waited eagerly for it.

The wolf disapeared behind some trees, and soon after a small pale man showed up. His black hair was wet and he had a tipical frown. "Brat...", he said with a hoarse voice while grabbing a few sticks to light a fire. "I've already told you... You're just like me".

Eren just shook his head, not understanding what he meant by that. "I-I'm not like you... I'm human...".

"Stop saying that", he scold, sitting down near the teen and grabbing them both a blanked from Eren's bag. "I don't know how you've not had your first transformation yet but... You're anything but human, and that scar on yout neck is...", his voice cracked, and he gulped before countinuing. "It is the biggest proof".

Although he wanted, the teen had no forces to question the man about it before falling asleep by the trembling fire light.
