Chapter 2 : Back from the dead

Regina was sitting on the cell's bench, trying hard to think about a responsible for Archi's murder. One name kept coming in her mind, a person she run away her all life, the person responsible for her misery, her unhappiness, her loneliness, her suffering. Cora. Her mother. This awful witch, this abomination, this cruel women who gave her birth to Regina spend her life searching for power and consideration. Instead of respecting the true love of her daughter, she just killed him, ripping her heart outside of his body, breaking Regina's heart in the way, making her become the Evil Queen, breaking every ounce of light in her soul. Cora could be more than capable of planning the murder of Archi in order to break Regina again. The only problem (or a happy event) was that Cora was dead. She couldn't be in Storybrook because she was dead. DEAD. So why the hell did she just enter the sheriff office?

Regina: Mother...?! How...?

Cora: My dear, dear daughter, I can see you never learnt from the past

Regina: You killed Archi

Cora: My sweet child, I just wanted to find you. Do you realize all the efforts I made in order to come in this world?

Regina: What are you doing here?

Cora: For the time being... just some spotting. But I have no doubt we will meet again...

And just like that she disappeared in a smoke curtain. Regina howled with rage.

It took an hour for Emma to come back in her office. She was hopping Regina was still here. She had some serious questions. She wanted to believe the Queen but what she saw... And Henry saw it too. Poor child. Regina was still here.

Regina: Swan, I know who is behind Archi's murder

Emma: Yeah, I bet you do...

Regina: What happened?

Emma looked deep in the Queen's eyes. She wasn't lying, the sheriff was sure about it, so how explain...

Emma: Regina, I really want to believe you but I have to ask you something first.

Regina: What happened?

Emma: Is it possible to alter someone memory with magic?

Regina: You can't modify the memories, why?

Emma: So explain me why Pongo saw you kill Archi?

Regina thought as fast as she could. The answer was quite easy.

Regina: My mother killed him. She could have transformed with my appearance before to do it.

Emma: What kind of mother could do that?

Regina: The kind who snatch your lover's heart because he can only offer you love but no power...

Regina walk toward the blond woman. She took her hands and stare at her. Emma never saw her that brittle and desperate.

Emma: So how can we prove that your mother did... you know

Regina: Finding her would be a good start I guess.

Emma: Why did I never saw her?

Regina: Because she was dead. At least I thought she was.

Emma: And...

Regina: I don't know. I don't know how she managed to come back from dead, to come here, I don't know. Please believe me.

Emma: I do. I know you Regina, you can't lie to me.

During the rest of the afternoon, the two women tried to elaborate plans to find Cora. No idea seemed good enough. From what Emma understood, Cora was too powerful and smart to be abused with some stupid trick. And her magic was certainly stronger that hers. Regina could defeat her but it wasn't safe, for the town, and for her. Emma didn't want to take any risk. The day was coming to an end and no solution was founded.

Emma: Maybe we can try to find a solution tomorrow? I am exhausted and can't focus anymore

Regina: It is not as it was urgent or anything....

Emma: Regina I am sorry, I just...

Regina: You're right, just go to sleep, we'll meet tomorrow.

Emma: Do you have a place to stay?

Regina: You mean my house?

Emma: Isn't it too dangerous for you to stay there?

Regina: You care about my safety now?

Emma sighted. Of course she cared about the other women. Why did it have to be so difficult to be friend with her? She was so not easy to approach, always suspicious, on guard... But the sheriff knew she wasn't easy either and won't complain about the mayor's behavior.

Emma: I have a place you can stay if you want...
