DJ's Mansion.

The momentary triumph DJ felt as he watched Zoya's widened eyes evaporated the moment Suman gasped in shock and let go of his arm.

"Dhanu, what are you doing?" Suman stepped back unsteadily.

"Maa please understand, there is no other way!" DJ tried to pacify her, as he extended his arm towards his mother. The phone slipped from his sweaty palms, fell on the marble floor and cracked. But the attention of DJ and Loki was riveted on their mother as she collapsed on the ground. Both DJ and Loki rushed towards her, but she raised her arms, stopping them not to come nearer.

As she slowly raised her face, with tears streaking down her cheeks, DJ and Loki looked at her with a mix of guilt and frustration.

"Both of you, please leave Victor alone. Why cant you understand that it is not Victor who is your enemy but your own sinful acts that have finally caught on with you? Is this going to end with Victor? No!! What are you going to do with the rest of agents who are going to hunt you? Please Beta!! Don't do this. There is still time to make amends.I have never asked anything of you, consider this as something you are doing for me. I beg you, I beg both of you, please leave Victor and his family alone!" Suman's pleading eyes switched hopefully between the grim faces of her sons.

Suraj Chacha watched on helplessly, as Suman's shaky voice filled the room.

"DJ .... you know how Loki is going to end up, if we continue this! We agreed, didn't we, that we wouldn't let Loki into this hell? I promised NirmalaJi that I would keep her son away from all harm!! Hey Bhagwan!! Please help me in making sure my kids wont break up anymore families!! " Suman folded her hands as if praying to the Omniscient and powerful presence around her.

"Maa, what's wrong with you? Why have you become so sympathetic towards that bastard who is out to kill your son? Does my safety and happiness mean nothing to you? As long as Victor is alive, he will hunt me down. Is that want you want?" Loki said, as he kneeled down and glared at her.
DJ sat down slowly next to both of them, and laid a restraining arm around his brother first, before turning towards his mother.

"Maa, please don't do this to me. You know I can never say no to you as a son, but don't ever ask me to change who I am and what I do for a living. I have crossed that bridge long time ago. I wouldn't be who I am and reach where I have, if I was worried about my sinful life. And it doesn't matter if the whole of IB and  the rest of the agencies are after me, I will show them who I am and what I am capable of, if they try to touch me or my empire. I care about my men as much as I care about my own life, and I will not abandon my business or my men for the sake of few idiots who think they are too clever!" The finality in DJ's tone put an end to whatever little hope Suman was clinging on to.

She slowly wiped her tears, resigning herself for the days and months of heart break and grief ahead. She knew DJ was too proud and deep rooted in his beliefs to listen to her, but her hope of invoking a sense of duty as a son to sway his thoughts turned out to be a failure.
With Loki she had far less expectations, especially when Zoya was hawking around them with her venomous thoughts.

But she didn't forget her younger son's accusations against her either.

She held out her hand to Loki, who clasped it with his own hands gently, although after a moment of hesitation.

Zoya rolled her eyes in exasperation and left the room, badly craving for her cigarettes or something stronger!!

Victor drove with a hint of frustration as the car in front of him was moving at a snail pace and forced him to fall behind. He didn't want to draw too much attention to himself by overtaking the car in such narrow strip of the road, but couldn't risk of losing sight of Gulshan's car either.
The car behind him honked loudly as if he was the reason for the slow pace.
