adjective & adverb
1.
having no one else present; on one's own.
2.
indicating that something is confined to the specified subject or recipient.Sherlock Holmes sped down the alleyway, merely metres away from the murderer. He clambered up the metal steps in pursuit, racing over rooftops and leaping over gaps; with Sherlock's flatmate and only friend, John Watson, behind. The adrenaline rushed through Sherlock's blood; the thrill of the chase, his blood pumping through his veins. A smirk traced his lips, as they jumped down onto the ground, and carried on running across the street, rushing back down twisting alleys. Sherlock leapt onto the murderer, and both plunged to the concrete; managing to knock the murdered out cold. John hastily grabbed his phone and rang Lestrade.
Within an hour, John and Sherlock were sat on their own chairs in the comfort of 221B; Sherlock deduced John, who was about to drift off to sleep. He momentarily scanned John's lips, wafting away any further thoughts, and wandered over to the cupboard to grab a blanket. He flung it onto John, and shuffled back to his chair; but was stopped by a hand clenching onto his wrist. Sherlock spun around, and stared into John's slate eyes; both knew what they wanted. John stood up, letting the blanket droop, and stepped towards Sherlock, hand now holding his. They were so close, their raced heartbeats pumping in their chests, pratically touching. Their lips brushed each others, and Sherlock placing his pale hands on John's waist, as both leaned in.
Sherlock abruptly opened his eyes, the galaxies locked within being blinded by the brilliant light above. It was intensely bright, causing a groan from his deep voice. A man with blonde hair and a short form made his way over to his patient. He greeted him with a smile and glanced at his record papers. Sherlock recognised the doctor, he imagined him in the endless dreams he has at night, as his flatmate and only friend.
