Emma, Ray, Norman, and I; walked up to the library before supper. "There's no hope," I said closing the door and leaning on it. " with another set of eyes, were doomed. Mom has probably already told her to keep a close eye on us." I buried my face in my knees, and heard Emma trying to comfort me as my eyes started to tear up.
"If anything we should be celebrating," said Ray. His words made made me look up with a dumbfounded look on my face.
"Just think, with Carol being new to the farm, she probably still has a mark from where the tracking device was implanted." "W-What tracking devices" "Have you ever noticed how Mom has always been able to find us," I nodded my head as Ray continued. "We all have a little device that is implanted somewhere on our bodies, that gives off a signal, although it doesn't say our names. Mom knows us well enough to be able to tell with one glance."
"S-so if we tried to leave, M-mom would be able to stop us." I said feeling my eyes tear up. As I buried my eyes in my knees, I felt someone tap my head. I didn't know who it was, but at that point I didn't care.
She probably came from headquarters, were they raise babies until they can come to a farm. They probably train they adults there too." I then realized that Ray was the one tapping my head, that was his way of telling me that everything would be ok. "It amazes me that there are adults out there other than Mama." Said Norman.
" Do any of us have to help Mom with the babies tonight?" Norman asked, but I wasn't getting his point. "I do, but what doe-. Oh," I said understanding Norman's question. "I can look for the device without being suspicious." I said lifting up my head as I realized that I wasn't completely useless.
I heard footsteps coming as I quickly jumped up, startling everyone as lifted them up and shoved them away from the door, quickly grabbing a book and acted as if I was reading. "What wa-." Ray was quickly interrupted by the sound of a crikey door.
The door opened, only to realize that it was just Phil telling us that dinner was almost ready.
"Thank you for the food." We all said in unison as we began to eat our food.
_________
As I got the babies ready for bed, started to look for any signs of something being implanted, but nothing was found. I started to think of all the possible answers, as so many started to pop into my head. From all of the adults that I have seen, to every time that I've been to the doctor. But then it hit me, it has to be easy to remember, so that the demons don't eat it.
I began to think of the easiest parts of the human body to remember, there were fingers, and toes were a possibility.
THE BLOOD TEST! It would have just been easier to take blood from our arms, and we were so little whenever they did it that no one would remember. Lucky for me, I always had had a better then average memory.
I checked behind Carol's ear, and what do you know, I was right. I did a little dance in my head to celebrate.
I looked around, making sure that no one else was in the room. I sat Carol down and said to her, " I did it Carol, I will help everyone escape." She happily giggled by my comment. I calmed myself down as I walked out of the room to get ready for bed.
