We walk into a room, finding Rhodey speaking to a holographic form of Secretary Ross. "Mr. Secretary," Steve says.
"You got some nerve, I'll give you that," Ross says, and looks at me. "Especially you."
"You could use some of that right now," Natasha says cooly.
"The worlds on fire and you think all is forgiven?" Ross says.
"I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking for permission. Earth just lost their best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way... we'll fight you too," Steve says, looking to Rhodey.
"You're fired," Ross says, looking towards me.
"Bags already packed," I smirk.
Ross turns to Rhodey and says, "Arrest them."
"All over it," Rhodey says, and swipes him away, ending the call. "That's court-martial. It's great to see you, Cap." Rhodey and Cap embrace, following him and Natasha. "Well, you guys really look like crap. Must've been a rough couple of years."
"Yeah, well the hotels weren't exactly five star," Sam says, still helping Vision walking.
"Uh, I think you look great," a familiar voice says. We all look behind Rhodey and Natasha and see Bruce, who we haven't seen in 2 years. "Yeah, I'm back."
"Hi Bruce," Natasha says, and I can feel the tension rise rapidly.
"Nat," he responds.
"This is awkward," Sam whispers to us, and we all nod in response. We all walk to the smaller kitchen, refreshing ourselves from the flight over.
"So we're gonna assume these creatures are coming back," Pietro says, and takes a sip from his water.
"And they can clearly find us," Wanda adds.
"We need all hands on deck. Where's Clint?" Bruce asks.
"Oh, and Scott, he could be useful," I say, remembering his skills.
"After the whole Accords situation, they took a deal. It was too tough on their families, so they're on house arrest," Natasha says. At least Clint is with his family.
"Who's Scott?" Bruce asks.
"Ant-Man," Steve responds.
"There's Ant-Man and Spider-Man?"
"You really need to catch up, Green," I say, using his old nickname.
"Okay, look. Thanos has the biggest army in the universe. And he's not going to stop until he gets... Vision's stone," Bruce says.
"Well, then, we have to protect it," Natasha says.
"No," Vision says, making everyone turn his way. "We have to destroy it. I've been giving a good deal of though to this entity in my head, about its nature. But also its composition. I think if it were exposed to a sufficiently powerful energy source."
He then goes over to Wanda, looking her in the eyes. "Something very similar to its own signature, perhaps... its molecular integrity could fail," Vision finishes.
"And you with it. We're not having this conversation," Wanda says.
"Eliminating the stone is the only way to be certain that Thanos can't get in," Vision says.
"That's too high of a price," Wanda says, and I can see her tear up slightly.
Vision takes her face into her hands and says, "Only you have the power to pay it." Wanda walks to the side obviously upset, and Pietro goes over and makes sure she is alright. "Thanos threatens half the universe, one life cannot stand in the way of defeating him."
"But it should. We don't trade lives, Vision," Steve says.
"Captain, 70 years ago, you laid down your life to save how many millions of people. Tell me, why is that any different?" Vision says, walking over towards Steve.
"Because you might have a choice," I say, remembering when I had to research up on Vision. "The stone isn't the only thing apart from you. You have developed many different features, emotions that androids shouldn't have. Maybe with the right tools, we could split the stone and you without causing damage."
"Can we do that?" Natasha asks.
"Not us, not here," Bruce says. "But she's right. There is still a whole lot of Vision left besides the stone. Jarvis, Ultron, Tony, me. All of them mixed together. All of them are learning from each other."
"You better find someone, and somewhere fast. Ross isn't exactly just gonna let you guys have your old rooms back," Rhodey says.
"I know somewhere," Steve says. We all talked about going to Wakanda, hoping a girl named Shuri who helped Bucky will be able to help Vision.
"Okay, let's meet in the quinjet at 5, I have to get some stuff," I say, and walk out of the room. I went to my old room, which still was technically mine until I was fired, to get my suit and weapons.
I put on my black suit, zipping it up. I load up with two handguns, fully loaded, plus extra ammunition. Some pocket knives that I kept in my boots, making sure to have my rings on that makes them come back towards me. For the first time for a mission, I bring my sword, hoping I won't need it, but knowing I will. I attach them to my back and get ready.
I also grabbed some of Pietro's old running uniform, and a pair of sneakers, knowing he will possibly need it. "Pietro!" I yell, and in a second he's in front of me.
"Everything alright?" he asks.
"You will probably need this," I say, handing it to him. He then speeds around the room, and is changed into his clothes.
"Are you ready princessa?" he asks.
"Not really, but when are you ever ready to fight the biggest alien army in the universe," I say, and he nods. He picks me up and speeds me to the quinjet, since we were late.
"You made the time schedule and you're still late," Sam says, and rolls his eyes.
"Better late than never," I responded. I sit down, and Pietro sits down next to me. He wraps his arm around me, and kisses my forehead. I whisper to him, looking at Wanda, "I really hope we will get there in time, for Wanda's sake."
"Me too. She wouldn't be able to take it emotionally," he whispers back. The ride there was silent other than that, trying to wrap our heads around everything that has been going on the past day.
