we turn to face Mazino. she looks down at her untouched food.
"you never think it can happen to you, and then it does, and then you pretend it didn't, because you never thought it could happen to you" she mumbles
" I know how you feel. You're a lot braver than I am, even though I'm older. I kept on waiting for someone to know that there was something wrong with me. but when no one noticed I gave up. I wanted you to do that too. That's why I didn't..." she stops abruptly.
"Whatever. The counselor's a darling, you can trust her. I gotta go"
She gets up, dumps her tray, pats me on the head and grabs her water bottle.
