I was in Lola's diner waiting for my boyfriend. "Where is he?" I checked my phone for the third time. All of a sudden one of my old friends and old crush walks in. He looks around the diner, is he looking for someone? Then his dark brown eyes lock with mine. He starts walking towards me. He looks like he hasn't slept in days.

"Ryder, are you okay? You look terrible." He runs a hand through his brown hair.

"Scarlet, I haven't been able to get you off my mind. When we started hanging out, it brought everything back." I look at him, my mouth wide open.

"Ryder, I'm sorry but I have a boyfriend." Then I saw the pain in his eyes when I told him that. Then my boyfriend, Carter walks in. He walks to where we are.

"Hey, what's going on?"

"Oh nothing babe, me and Ryder were just catching up."

"That's cool, you ready to go?" I nod and we walk out the door. We get into his black toyota.

"Babe, can you just drop me off at home? I don't feel so good."

"Ok, we can hold off our plans for another time." I don't speak at all on the car ride home.

"We're here. Hope you feel better, Scar." I give him a small smile, then a kiss on the cheek.

Later in the day...

"What do I do, Artemis? I gave up, because I thought he would never feel the same. Now I have a loving and understanding boyfriend." I say while pacing back and forth in my room.

"I mean, do you still have feelings for him?" I stop pacing, then sit on my bed.

"I never stopped having feelings for him, but then I met Carter and he shared the same feelings for me."

"What does your heart say?" I look at the ground.

"I know what to do. Thanks Artemis." She smiles and gives me a hug.

"Hey babe, what's up?" Carter walks into my room. I pat my bed for him to sit next to me.

"We need to talk." He sits down next to me and puts his hand on mine.

"What's wrong?" I look at his hand and pull away. I look into his eyes.

"I still have feelings for Ryder." I see the hurt look in his eyes. "I'm sorry Carter, it's just he told me how he felt and all my hidden feelings came back." He chuckles and looks at the ground.

"I always thought we would end up together."

"I'm sorry." He looks at me.

"It's ok, as long as you're happy I'm happy. I will be here if you need me."

"Friends?"

"Friends, but can I ask for something before I go?"

"Anything." He cups my cheeks, leans in and kisses me. We kiss as if it were our last, because it is. I pull away and look into his eyes.

"Goodbye Scarlet."

"Goodbye Carter." He gets up and leaves.

The next day...

I see Ryder getting his books out of his locker. I take a deep breath, then start walking towards him. He was about to walk away, but I stopped him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. He stood still for a moment then he wrapped his arms around my waist. I pull away and look deeply into his eyes.

"I never stopped having feelings for you."

"What about your boyfriend?"

"I explained everything and he understood." He smiles and kisses me again. The whole school is watching, but I don't care.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" I smile and nod.
