My name is Marie Johnson or at least for the time being it is. I'm 19 years old and I thought it was about time I told my story. Now see I know what you're thinking what's so interesting about a random girl. Well, you right there wasn't anything very interesting about me.

That is until I found out a very life changing secret.

and it all started that night.

(Marie's Pov)

I was counting the days till my birthday; I was finally turning 18. Now to some people that may not be that big of a deal but trust me turning 18 may be the biggest moment of my life. I'll finally be an adult and I'll finally be able to escape this hell hole of a town.

You see, I live in an amazing small town in the middle of nowhere (note the sarcasm). My best friend and I have been planning to escape this place since we were 15. When I was 14 I found out I was adopted. I didn't care, the only thing that bothered me was the fact that my parents lied and hid it from me.

I know they are keeping secrets from me. I can see it in the way they talk, move, and look at me. Every time I walk into a room they stop talking and just stare at me till I walk out. I know that once I find out what they are hiding I won't like it, but after years of being lied to you tend to always look for the truth even if it does hurt you. Though we were successful in finding out one secret and damn was it juicy though!

My phone ringing knocked me out of my thoughts, making me realize I had been sitting here for more than thirty minutes just staring off into space.

"Hello" I said as I answered the phone.

"Hey where are you at? It's almost nine. "A voice that I recognized as my best friend Julie said through the phone.

Julie was probably the best friend anyone could ever have. She's always there when I need her and always knows when somethings wrong. It's almost like she's Magical or unnatural. ;)

"Oh Shit, I'm right around the corner." I said as I jumped up from my desk chair running around my room trying to get my stuff ready.

"You totally forgot, didn't you?" Julie asked more as a fact than a question.

I could practically hear her smirking smugly through the phone making me roll my eyes.

"What makes you think I forgot?" I asked throwing my bag out of my bedroom window. I could have gone through the front door but it wasn't like my parents exactly knew I was leaving.

"You're a horrible liar," Julie said laughing.

"Okay so maybe I forgot, but don't worry I'm on my way" I reassured her.

"Alright, see you soon, weirdo. Oh, and bring snacks" Julie demanded before hanging up on me.

"Rude" I grunted as I climbed over the window seal and jumped down. Luckily it was just a one-story home, so it wasn't too hard to escape.

I quietly closed my window leaving a small crack so that I could get back in later and made my way down the street.

Julie's house was just down the street from mine, so it wasn't that far of a walk. She lived by herself, so it didn't really matter when I came over late at night.
