Chaise
Chaise walked behind the vampire, though she wasn't just any vampire. She was Adela. Daughter to the all mighty and powerful Aquilo Agusta, supreme lord of the vampires. He knew it wasn't wise to taunt her, hell it isn't wise to taunt any vampire, but he couldn't help himself. He just hated them that much. Adela. He knew her name but that was about it. The rest was speculation and rumors. He'd heard she was more kind, and less stuffy than the average vampire. Chaise had also heard of her beauty, but that wasn't anything special. It was a typical trait for vampires to be attractive. The chatter he found most interesting was that she was said to be more gracious than her father. Which wasn't hard. What kind of monster she was and how far she fell from the tree he would find out soon enough.
He watched her closely as they walked, analyzing her armor. Dawn armor. The vampire's protective shell, made to keep out the sun. As a result they also did a fair job of keeping out his blades. However wearing them made the wearier, slower, and more clumsy, he wondered how much visibility they actually had with fabric so thick. He'd found it much easier to subdue his would be captors and executioners in the square, thanks to the very thing that was supposed to protect them. It was baffling but he wasn't complaining.
He watched Adela navigate the busy streets, seemingly without problem. Earlier at the execution he took note, that she seemed to respond to sounds. Perhaps she used her hearing more than sight. He continued observing as people parted in her wake. Of course being royalty and having everyone cater to you must be pretty handy as well.
"Where are we going Adela?" Chaise asked.
"To a place we can talk. And that would be Lord Adela." she said, adding her last statement, after considering the ramifications of letting a subject treat her so casually.
"What's wrong with right here?"
Adela didn't answer. She didn't want to admit that she needed to save face with the people around her, and that she had to uphold a certain image.
"That's cool, you don't have to answer. I'm sure being royalty and all, you think you're too good for a simple human like me."
Incredible. This man had a serious issue with vampires, and authority, and if she didn't smack him first, she was certain his mouth would get him killed.
"I'll let you in on a little secret." Adela said as they turned a corner. "I may not care about how you address me, but most vampires wouldn't hesitate to detain you.
"I forgot, that's another luxury humans aren't granted by vampire law. Free speech." He mumbled.
Adela didn't think he meant her to hear since he had said everything else so blatantly loud, but being a vampire supernatural hearing was something she possessed.
"You're allowed to speak your mind, just not out against royalty such as myself. But my real fear for you is that if you anger a vampire they are equally free to punch you in the face, same as a man you might upset in a bar. Just a punch from our kind would hurt more. Or kill you."
"I didn't know you cared."
"Have a feeling there's lots you don't know." Adela retorted.
"I know enough." The man's voice grew quiet trailing off and becoming silent.
They walked this way with nothing but the murmur and buzz of the crowds filling their ears. Adela paused. Another hole in her memory. She was searching for a small vampire barracks. A guard shack of sorts. It was her business to know the location of what she considered to be too many bases. Instead she had guided them to a sector of the village that didn't look even remotely familiar. "Whose bright idea was it to put someone with memory problems in charge of memorizing locations throughout the whole territory" she screamed internally. Adela paused trying to peer through the fog in her mind.
