Narrator's POV

It was the night of Junior Prom, and Betty and Veronica were hastily getting ready. They only had a few more minutes and they wanted everything to be perfect. Betty and Veronica had been dreaming of his since they were little girls. They had had everything planned out back then, right down from the colour of their nails to how they styled their hair. Betty was to have a blush pink dress that flowed down to her toes with multiple layers causing it to puff out around her feet. The dress sported a sweetheart neckline and straps littered with sequins. She paired the dress with some white flats, a rose-pink clutch, and a small diamond locket. Her makeup was simple with a strawberry flavoured lipgloss and some light pink eyeshadow. After a little swipe of mascara that was all, she needed in that department, despite Veronica's protests to be a little bolder with her look. She wanted everything to be pink. It was her favourite colour back then, and it hadn't changed. Plus the colour looked very beautiful on her no matter what she wore.

Veronica, on the other hand, wore practically quite the opposite. She dressed in a violet two-piece with a halter top and a long flowing skirt to accompany the bottom half of her petite frame. Her makeup was a lot more daring as she displayed a bright red lip and a smoky eye with a perfectly done cat-eye on each of her eyelids. Instead of wearing her iconic pearls around her neck tonight, she decided to embellish her ears with them instead. Veronica wore her everyday black pumps, considering no one would be able to see her feet anyway. Veronica looked absolutely stunning, and don't get me wrong Betty looked as equally as amazing but in her own way. Betty was beautiful in a girl-next-door and innocent type of way while Veronica was attractive in a more sexy type of way.

As the girls were making finishing touches to their outfits, they heard a knock at Veronica's bedroom door. "Come in!" Veronica called to the person on the other side of the door as she was putting her earrings on. Betty tucked her shawl a little tighter around her shoulders. She wasn't sure if it was going to be cold tonight but she thought of her mother's words, 'It's not a crime to be prepared, Elizabeth'  and concluded that those words were true. Another reason for bringing it was because she felt quite insecure in her dress. This was way out of her comfort zone, especially the way it accentuated her curves. When Veronica and she went dress shopping Veronica insisted she tried the dress on, and after her best friend saw it on her she wouldn't let her let go of it. She had commented on how amazing she looked, and she wasn't going to deny it, but that didn't make her feel any less anxious.

Smithers was at the door, informing them that their dates were here waiting for them downstairs in the entryway. Betty felt butterflies erupt in her stomach. Jughead Jones her date this evening. He has asked her out on the previous Monday, and it was the most adorable thing she had ever seen.

Jughead strode up to her, focusing intently on the vinyl tile flooring of the hallway that the students of Riverdale High walked over each day. Betty noticed how nervous he was as he pulled his signature crown-knit beanie down over his extremely pink ears. It was not a sight to be seen very often. Jughead Jones was never nervous. He was always highly carefree, never giving a damn what anyone thought about him. He was quite a loner and often got picked on for that but Jughead just went on like nothing ever happened. Jughead was never nervous, not for anything so this surprised her...and somewhat worried her.

She was standing at her locker getting her books for her next class when she noticed him approaching her and by the time he reached her he still hadn't looked up from where his eyes were positioned on the floor. This deepened her worry."Hey, Juggie is everything ok?" Betty asked worriedly, placing her hand on his arm, ignoring the spark she felt when they made contact as she tried to get him to meet her eyes. Betty cared deeply for the boy, having grown up together with Archie and him. Over the years of maturing, she developed a motherly instinct over the two boys, always making sure they never got into too much trouble.
