*Hardin doses off and doesn't respond to Tessa's question*

I wake up to the cold comforter covering my half naked body.

"Tessa?" I whisper softly. No response.

When I turn over to reach my cell, I see a handwritten note from what looks like my love's handwriting.

*Went to go grab lunch with Landon, and to pick up the kids. Be back around 1 <3*

Fuck. I always oversleep and then miss like over half of my day. I grab my phone and check the time. It reads 12:30, so I go to get dressed as fast as I can so it looks like I have actually been doing shit around this place.

After I change into a black tee and jeans from the laundry hamper, I go into the kitchen and see Auden sitting on the couch playing with his trains that Smith handed down to him.

"Good morning daddy!"

"Auden? What are you doing here? Where is mommy?"

"Mommy went to go shopping with Emery because of an emergency," he replies.

Why would Tessa just leave Auden here without letting me know? What is the emergency? I rush to grab my phone from the bathroom and scroll until I see Tessa's contact. As soon as I press the call button, I hear the door slam shut from the living room. I dash to the front door and I see Emery and Tessa with grocery bags in each of their hands.

"Where were you guys?" I suddenly ask.

"We had to go shopping," Tessa says followed by a wink. what the fuck does that mean. I look at Emery and she looks as if she was sobbing a minute before she got here. I walk over to her and tilt her chin up to look at me.

"Emery, what's wrong princess?"

She shakes her head from side to side, then looks at her mom. I give Tessa a confused look because I actually have no idea what the hell is going on right now. Tess drops the bags on the counter and leads me into our bedroom.

"What the fuck was wrong?" I ask her.

"Well, Emery told me not to tell you, but as her father I think you should know that she got her period this morning, so we had to go to the store to get her some stuff."

What. What the actual hell. My baby got her first period. She can't be growing up like this.

"Please don't mention anything, okay?" she says while smiling.

"Okay."

"Okay?" she questions, "That's it. Okay? I thought you would be excited or something?"

"Well, I am excited. But why would I be excited that my little girl is growing up?"

I truly am not excited. I mean, why would I be excited that my daughter is bleeding? I honestly feel sorry for her.

"Just, dont make any corny jokes please," Tessa grins.
