A/N: Wow, it’s been nine months since I last updated this story. I really didn’t have any time with studies and all. Further Maths just won’t do itself, unfortunately. But now I’m back. Stay tuned because starting from this chapter, things are going to get interesting. Enjoy!

[Archer’s POV]

Heavy rain made it almost impossible to see the road ahead. No matter how hard I tried I could barely see several feet in front of my car. Sure, I could see the headlights of oncoming cars on the opposite lane but the actual shape of the cars could barely be seen even when the other cars passed by me. That’s how bad the rain was.

I thought about how everything came to this. All that time spent together with Alexis all vanished in one night. All thanks to Miles. I ought to give him a piece of my mind when I get back and when I mean a piece of my mind, I mean a big hard knuckle sandwich to the kisser.

I decided to call Alexis, hoping that I could talk to her. Unfortunately, there was no way I could stop on the road since there were cars behind me all the time. When I tried to stop, most of them sounded their car’s horn and some even overtook me and flipped me the bird.

After three failed attempts at calling her, I gave up. I placed my phone on the dashboard and continued driving. I figured that I could call her at a later time. Now might be a good time to let her cool off.

What was wrong with Miles? What he did…it was just so sudden. I didn’t expect him to pull a stunt like that. Him, of all people. My childhood friend who always had my back suddenly decided to cockblock me on my first date with Alexis. I let out an exasperated sigh as I ran my left hand through my jet-black hair.

When I do get through to Alexis, what am I going to say? Heck, why am I even feeling bad? It’s not fault the date got screwed up. So why is she angry at me? God, this is making my head spin.

I continued my drive as the rain became heavier and heavier and visibility dropped even closer to zero. Where was I and where was I going? I couldn’t see ahead of me anymore. I don’t think I was in town anymore. I couldn’t see the light of streetlights anymore.

Suddenly, a sound startled me. I swerved my car but managed to regain control. I looked at the dashboard and saw my phone’s light flashing on the other side of the dashboard. I tried reaching for it but it was barely out of my reach. Oh wait, I think I’ve got it…darn. My clumsiness knocked the phone to the floor. Great, just great.

I stopped the car and switched off the headlights. I reached out to grab my phone but was restrained by my seatbelt. I released my seatbelt and grabbed my phone. I felt a sense of hope with the thought that it could be Alexis calling me. However, as soon as I sat back up, two large, bright headlights greeted me. At first, I thought it was a car but then realised that the headlights were too large for any car I knew. In fact, the headlights belonged to a sixteen wheeler. It was moving fast and worst of all, the driver couldn’t see me as the heavy rain blinded him.

What happened next probably happened in a few blinks of the eye. I punched my car’s horn to alert the driver of my presence. He swerved but due to the extremely slippery road and the sixteen wheeler’s massive inertia, it couldn’t stop before me. The large vehicle slid across the road and tilted over my car. I unlocked my car as fast as I could and got out of my car. In spite of that, the sixteen -wheeler came down and crushed me and my car under its weight.

Metal, glass and bones breaking was all that I could hear as the pain coursed throughout my body. Of my whole body, only my left arm and my head were spared from the weight of the large vehicle. The pain was so intense that I couldn’t even scream out in pain. Yet, I wondered how I was still able to think with my most of my body under the heavy weight of the sixteen-wheeler. Shouldn’t I be dead? I’ve heard people who are close to death see their life flash before their eyes and feel at peace but all I see right now is heavy rain falling on the road and all I could was pain. Moreover, I could hear nothing, aside from the rain.
