Summary: This is sort of a sequel to the previous story in this book. It takes place many months afterwards, while Casey is recovering from an attack by another enemy slender being. Slender's come to enjoy having Casey around, so they share some... Sentiments. This is a very touchy feely story.

It'd been a little over a month since Casey was nearly killed by Wilderman. It'd been a little over a month since, in a near-death stupor, he asked Slender to finish him off. That offer had haunted Slender throughout all of the nights Casey had been in the hospital, and it wasn't about to stop now that he was living back in the Tall House.
Slender insisted that Casey sleep in his room while he healed from his injuries. Splendor objected, fearing the worst might happen if a still-wounded human was left in Slender's care, but gave in after a private talk between himself and his older brother. The attic was far too cold for anyone with internal injuries to be left alone, especially not when his movement was so limited by the delicate scars up the middle of his belly.

So, for the past couple of weeks, Slender has watched Casey sleep. Considering the circumstances, Casey slept quite soundly. Slender knew the effect he tended to have on humans—his presence was more likely to bring upon insomnia rather than sweet dreams. Not for Casey, though. He was different.

As Slender watched his apprentice's chest slowly rise and fall beneath the black silk sheets of his long, skinny bed, he couldn't help but wonder what it was that made Casey different.

Plenty of humans have sought him out before. He was sure that plenty had been in love with him before. But where others backed out or ran away, Casey drew closer, with a curious gaze. Initially, Slender wrote this off as stupidity. Casey's other behaviors certainly encouraged this deduction. But after the morning he'd tried to kill him, he realized just how deep the boy's obsession with him ran. And after he'd read Casey's journals, well...

He tried to put what he read out of his mind. If he hadn't read those blasted journals, Casey never would've stormed out, and he'd never have been impaled by Slender's arch nemesis.
As much as he wanted to ignore it... reading the journals only made him think more about Casey. Knowing how far back he decided this was what he wanted in life, knowing that he wanted this even after young Casey learned that most of the children that disappeared turned up dead, made Slender feel something he'd never quite gotten used to feeling in his millennia long lifespan.

He was worried about Casey.

Casey made it clear quite early on that he trusts Slender with all his heart. Now, with him in this state, the trust he has in Slender was made even more apparent. Casey, you see, does not bind his chest, and he tends not to wear bras either. So when his bandages needed changing, and he couldn't do it himself, he needed Slender's help.

Splendor, of course, tried to offer to take that duty, and was quite surprised when Slender told him he was more than willing to do it. The surprise, of course, soon became worry over Slender's intentions. Splendor honestly should know better, he and the others know that the eldest brother doesn't have a lustful bone in his body, but his distrust for Slender always tended to outweigh his voice of reason.

Much to Slender's surprise, Casey acted perfectly normal when his bandages needed changing. He'd completely expected Casey to become overly flustered and a complete mess, but it was quite the contrary. Casey always seemed to want to get it over with as soon as possible. In Slender's narrow understanding of human sexuality, this hardly made any sense. He knew how obsessed the proxy was with him. So... why wasn't that something he looked forward to?
