" Ugh..." I groaned as I opened the empty freezer. " Lucy! We're out of sweets!" All I wanted was a bowl of chocolate icecream, after slaving at the diner all day. I had just finished a fourteen hour shift waiting tables, needless to say my feet were aching like a bitch.
" Sorry Liabell, I forgot to run to the store today." My roomate shouted, guiltily, from her room in our tiny apartment. I sighed, regretting snapping at her. It wasn't her fault I was in a bad mood, after all. I snatched my keys from the small dining room table, shrugging on my jacket. I wanted that icecream.
" Okay Luce, I'll be back in ten. I'm running to the store." And with that, I dragged the door shut. Little did I know, that would be the decision that changed my life. I sat in my car seat, sticking the key in the ignition. I turned my key, only to hear the car sputter and groan. This could not be happening. I just got my car back from the shop!
I banged my head against the stubborn wheel, making the horn blare. I quickly lifted my head, getting out of the vehicle. I really needed that icecream now. I huffed knowing my only option was to walk, I hitched up my hood, tightening my jacket as I set off towards the store. I liked walking anyway, it may have been cold, but the sensation made me feel alive.
The passing cars that flew by made me nervous, so I hooked a right down the alley. Probably not my smartest decision, but it was quicker to get to the store. Just as I was about to pass a dumpster, I heard a muffled scream, ending in a gurgling noise. I stopped in my tracks, my breath starting to come faster. When I heard it again, I backed into the alley wall.
It sounded as if coming from around the corner, so I mustered up my courage taking a huge breath. I peeked, hesitantly around the corner, grabbing my mace from my pocket. In this part of town, you needed it when ever you left. The sight I took in made my breathing stop completely.
A man with dark, black hair had his teeth sunk into another mans neck. He thrashed back, ripping the mans neck from his body. I gagged, dry heaving at the sight of the mans flesh. His blood running down his body. I made another gagging noise, resulting in the attacker noticing my presence. His face was one of shock as the body dropped from his hands.
" Shit..." He muttered, starting in my direction. I turned around, flying down the alleyway, avoiding stray pieces of trash and cats. I was breathing so hard I swear I felt like an elephant was on my chest. Suddenly, I was pressed up against the brick wall, the attacker against my back.
" Let me go!" I struggled and wriggled, trying desperately to get out of his grip with no avail. " Now listen, it is not what it looks likes." The man tried to reason, increasing his grip to an almost painful hold. I gave a humorless laugh, still struggling. " Well it looks like you just ripped that mans throat out! So unless you want to tell me your a vampire or a cannibal, I suggest you save your breath." He gave a small chuckle, at my response.
" Not exactly." " What is that supposed to mean?" He paused for a moment as if having an internal debate. " Sorry about this..." He whispered, before I felt a sharp pain in the back of my skull. Tiny black dots filled my vision, as my helpless body fell to the ground, and it all went black.

" Well what was I supposed to do?" A harsh voice whispered. " Not bring her here, you damn fool!" I shook my head instantly regretting it, once the pain kick started. I groaned a little, afraid to open my eyes. The memories all flew into my mind, as my eyes burst open in alarm.
" Well good morning sunshine, earth says hello." A cheery voice called, from a tall blue eyed blonde girl. I looked around confused as to where I was. I was in a dark red room, laying in a black bed. The blonde was instantly at my side, as I hurriedly sat upright. " Where the hell am I?" I screamed frantically, ruffling my hair.
She reached her hand out, and I flinched from her touch. She could be a lunatic for all I know. " Theresa will tell you all about it, once you meet with her." The girl tried to explain, shifting her eyes around nervously. " Theresa? What about the attacker? The man in the alley, h-he--" " Shh, calm down. Everything will make sense soon, I promise." She smiled, reassuringly, and she looked so sure of herself, she made me smile back.
" My name is Earth. Yeah I know, wierd name, but you get used to it. Guess thats what I get, hippie parents and all." I giggled at her, reaching out my hand. She took it, shaking mine. " Liabell." I introduced myself in a whisper, seeing as my throat was sore. " Nice to meet you. Though not exactly under these circumstances." Earth said, sending me a sorrowful look during the last part. I felt bile rise in my throat, as I hurtled from the bed, clutching my stomach.
Earth got the message, as she placed a basin under me, holding my hair. I vomited all the contents in my stomach, gasping once I had finished. Earth was rubbing my back, soothing me. " Sorry." I breathed, glancing down at the floor. She just shook her head at me, helping me up. " Don't be. I assume you want a shower, and we look about the same size. You could borrow some of my clothes, for the mean time." I nodded my head with a thanks, as she showed me to the bathroom.
The shower was steaming hot, with lots of pressure. Just the way I like it. There was lavender body wash, and shampoo, and I applied a generous amount of both to my body and hair. When I got out and wrapped a towel around myself I found a toothbrush set on the sink. I hastily brushed my teeth, ridding the nasty, acid taste of my vomit.
I stepped into the room, seeing clothes spread on the bed. I slipped on the black short sleeved shirt, with red shorts, and they fit very well. We were, indeed, the same size. Just as I was running a hand through my hair, I heard a suddle knock at the door. " Come in..." I called, hesitantly, but instantly calmed when Earth popped her head in.
" Perfect timing. Theresa would like to meet you now, and Elliot." I frowned when she said Elliot, but shrugged it off. I followed her out the door, walking beside her the whole way. The building was lovely. The halls were a gorgeous royal blue, white trimming at top and bottom of the walls. The carpets a nice bright white, so clean looking I was afraid to walk on it.
We reached a set of white, double doors, Earth knocking on the door. The doors swung open, revealing a huge library. I smiled in appreciation, looking over the thousand's of books, lining the tall walls. There was a desk in the middle of the grand room, occupied by a tan woman, with midnight black hair. Earth led me to the table, almost dragging me.
" Ahh, Liabell. So nice to finally make your aquantince." Her melodic voice, filled my ears, calming my nerves. " Hello, Theresa?" I questioned, lifting a brow. " Yes, my name is Theresa. And we have much to discuss. Please take a seat, Elliot will be here shortly." She gestured to a leather couch, as she stood from her seat. She ushered me to sit, and she took a seat across from me. I shifted uncomfortably on the couch.
" Can you please explain why I am here?" I asked in a small voice, peering at her from beneath my lashes as I focused on my hands. She made me feel her inferior in every way, she was gorgeous, and seemed intelligent. She had a confidence about her, that made you cower in fear of the power she holds over you. Earth took a seat to my left, leaning into the couch.
" All will be explained in time Liabell." Just as the words passed her lips, the double doors opened revealing a man with black hair. One that I instantly recognized. My body tensed in fear, as the attacker drew closer. I dipped into the couch, secretly hoping it would swallow me whole. He noticed my fear it seemed, as he held up his hand in surrender. " I won't hurt you I promise. I don't bite." He joked, taking a step closer.
I just stiffened, not even bothering with a response. " Theresa will you please explain, so she will stop acting like I'm going to eat her at any moment." He snapped, sitting next to Theresa, across from Earth. " Hey Ell." Earth smiled at the man, I now know as Elliot. He flashed a lopsided grin at her. " Hey Earth." Wait. Earth knew the attacker? Maybe I shouldn't be so trusting.
" Liabell, you have nothing to fear here. No harm will come to you, atleast not under my roof." Theresa cooed, leaning towards me. " Then explain to me why exactly I saw ' Elliot' over here snacking on a human as if he were chocolate?" Elliot laughed at my statement, causing me to glare at him. He tried to disguise it as a cough, failing miserably. " Well that would be because..."
