As soon as we finish, Rudy and Chase ask around if anyone has a request where we should go for dinner. As I still haven't explored the region, I decide to be silent and let the others choose. Drew comes over and lays his arm around my shoulder. "Ready to go home and get ready?"
"Well, you're being a little too excited for a normal dinner", I comment.
"Just saying, you were flirting."
"We were having a normal conversation."
"See, you already know what I'm talking about."
"I've only been talking to Rudy earlier so that is the only conversation you can talk about."
"Just looking out for you."
"How are you looking out for me when you're telling me it wasn't a normal conversation although it was?", I question giving him a confused look.
"I'm looking out for your love life", he replies pretending to be hurt by my words.
"You're crazy."
"Am not."
"Sure you are."
"No."
"What are you two discussing about?", Austin joins us, "You and Rudy?"
"There is no Rudy and I", I groan.
"Looked different."
"Austin. I wasn't flirting."
"Yeah, you weren't. But he definitely was."
"How would you know that?"
"Just saying."
"Austin, what did you say to him?"
"No, the main question is what did he say to me", he retorts with a grin.
"Hey, Sarah, you like pizza, right?", Rudy asks me coming over, "Lilah suggested pizza."
"Yeah sure", I smile as he lays his hand on my back - I guess - instinctively.
"Great, we can go there by foot", he tells me but looks around then, "Did I interrupt something?"
"No, no", Austin denies shaking his head, "Drew and I have to go back to our apartment, we forgot something. Sarah doesn't know the region yet, can we leave her with you?"
"I don't need someone who takes care of me, Austin", I chuckle knowing what he was planning but I wouldn't speak about it in front of Rudy.
"Of course, let's walk there together. And if you want to, I can also show you around tomorrow", Rudy offers me but before I can begin with my answer, Drew already does that for me. "Great idea, man."
"Are you excited for the weekend?", Rudy asks me as we walk through the streets, "For our weekend together with the others?"
"Yes, totally. I didn't have the best opportunity earlier to talk to everyone so I hope to talk to Madelyn, Jonathan and Chase more."
"Yeah, it's been pretty hectic today. But at the end of the week we'll be done with the table read and get to play our roles finally. Have you ever played before?"
"Actually, I haven't", I admit shyly, "I know some actors and they gave me advices. I felt the need to try out something new strongly and my agent told me it was really hard to find this role so I came here as fast as I could."
"Why was it hard to find? I mean, no criticism against your character but she's a teenage girl and those are often looked for."
"Well, I didn't audition for Isabella. I wanted to play Kiara."
"But why? No offence but I prefer Isabella. She's more open to people and believes in their good personality. She suits you better."
"Yeah, and she's been in a toxic relationship", I laugh lightly, "Sorry, I didn't mean to say this." I really didn't want to talk about my life that much. It just came out of my mouth and I also wanted to be honest with him.
Although we don't know each other yet, I think we should start talking about our lives because all of us are going to spend the next months together. I already know that sooner or later we will talk about our personal lives as well but I prefer later.
"Do you.. want to talk about it?", Rudy asks softly as he stops walking to have a look at me so I nod and give him a smile.
"I will someday but not right now. We're supposed to have a good time tonight."
"We might be supposed to but that doesn't mean you have to, you know. If you're not feeling-"
"Rudy", I laugh lightly, "Everything's fine, honestly. I appreciate you taking care but it's just not the right time for me. But that's the reason I wanted to play Kiara."
"And you still stay to play Isabella. I think that just shows how brave and professional you are."
"Thanks, Rudy. And I admire your for moving to the other end of the country away from your family at an early age. When I moved out of my mom's house, I was extremely nervous and I still lived in the same city."
"You informed yourself about me?", he asks me grinning cheekily.
"I have to know who I am working with", I reply doing the same.
"There you are!" Our conversation is interrupted by Madelyn who comes over to me as soon as we arrive at the restaurant and she gives me a hug.
"Hey, I'm Lilah by the way. I really like your songs", the other girl tells me although Drew already told me that she's the director's daughter but her and I haven't talked to each other already, "Is your fiancé here as well?"
"My-", I interrupt myself to think about what I would say first, "My fiancé? And thanks, I'm surprised you know them."
"The boys me told me you're a singer so I googled your name to find some songs. It also showed a picture of you at the world championship. That must have been so exciting."
"Yes it really was. Actually, we're not a couple anymore so he's not with me."
Madelyn replies my insecure look with an understanding one. "I've been in bad relationships, too. I'm glad we've found great people here to work with and have fun after everything."
"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to-", Lilah starts but I shrug it off. "It's completely fine. Just ask me anything. I always say that people can ask everything but I can still decide what I'd like to answer."
"That's true", Madelyn nods, "Have you learned that during the past years?"
"Yeah, people have a lot of intimate and misplaced questions."
"I see, we can learn a lot from you", Madelyn giggles and asks me to sit with her so she can introduce Elaine to me. On our way, I notice Rudy's glimpses but decide to believe that he was just looking around.
