THE STORM THAT GOT AWAY
written by: Roannies

She was the calmest sea that I've been watching for a long time. She's the golden shade of my darkest side.

She was my everything. My anchor. My entire galaxy that I've been treasuring within so many years.

She was there...and I treated her as  my whole universe that I can't live without.

And I was just there, as her bestfriend.
Being the number one supporter, and witness of her tears and joy.

But, it's fine as long as I have her. Despite all the things that hinder us from being more than what we have.

"Psst! Topak, ba't di ka na naman namamansin? May regla ka ba? Ha!!" Her high-pitch voice seems music to my ears.

I didn't give her a glance. I just continue typing on my keyboard. I know she will annoy me everytime she'll notice that I've been very busy with my laptop.

"Hoy!" She pinched my ears.

I stopped in a sudden glimpse. Her usual way of distracting me. Nice one!

She chuckled.

"Uly naman! Why are you so busy? Don't tell me you're writing again?" She exaggeratedly rolled her eyes

"Your corny and cheesy lines again!" She sounded cringy.

I creased my forehead while looking at her.

She's wearing her usual outfit. A pastel jacket paired with a faded jeans and white shoes. She's still chewing her bubble gum. That's her habit that will never change, I guess.

I felt a lot of butterflies in my stomach. Just watching her like that made me uneasy.

"Uhmm.. ano bang ginagawa mo dito? I thought you have work." Pag-iiba ko ng usapan.

She just smiled mischievously and seated in front of me.

"Well, I dropped off here to get some free iced coffee.." she pouted her lips. Like she'll going to ask me anything I will never refuse.

Then I saw her walking in the counter.

Oh oh.. here we go again.

Hihingi na naman  'yan ng libreng kape dito sa coffee shop ko. She's always like that, akala mo naman walang pambili eh ang dami na niyang pera.

"Quinta!" I called her but she just stucked her tongue out as if she's teasing me.

"Penge lang naman!" Aniya

Napailing na lang ako at hinayaan siya. I immediately went back to my seat.

I closed my laptop because I have no energy to continue my new novel. In fact, my publisher isn't pressuring me for another draft. So, I have a lot of time to think a better plot.

It's just that whenever she's around, my mind will automatically get blank.

She have that effect on me.

"Uly, I have a news for you!" Her voice awaken my occupied mind. I didn't notice that I was spacing out while looking at the glass window of the shop.

Tiningnan ko siya nang may pagtatanong sa mga mata. She seemed happy. It is evident on her hazel brown eyes.

"Spill the tea and don't give me that kind of expression.." I said

The side of her lips rose. She clasp her fingers before looking at me with intent eyes.

"Uly..I have.. have a.." she stuttered

My lips parted. What is she trying to say? Is it bad? Is it an explosive topic?
