I walk out into an opening in the forest where a nearby creak is flowing rapidly. I walk closer to the creak, wanting to look at the fish that swam in it. I stumbled upon a fish with a deep gash in its side, a bear must've run its claw through its side. I look around a little more.
I gasp at the sight of a little fox laying on the ground, shaking violently as he slowly bled out of a wound in its side. I run towards it and picked it up, trying to attempt to stop the bleeding it was producing.
"Hey, it's ok! Just hang on a little tighter for me buddy ok?" the fox looked up at me with confusion and sadness. I could tell it wanted things to be over already. I didn't know if I had the guts to put it out of its misery though. I know I didn't, I'm too much of a wimp. The fox started to slowly cough, I rushed over to the creak and began to clean its wound out. It hissed in pain and I cringed at the noises it made. I knew it hurt, but I didn't want to let go of it just yet. It still had a chance at life, right?
After a while the whimpering stopped. I stopped cleaning the wound out and smiled, had I saved it? I smile, only to realize the fox wasn't moving no more. My smile falls as I began to shake the little creature. It wasn't reacting to anything I had done. Oh god.
