Sam's POV
I don't think one needs to be religious to believe in miracles. I'm not religious, not at all, but I do believe in a superior power, and miracles. How else would you explain these unbelievable events.
After the Tsunami, I thought, I lost everything. Friends, relatives, Jaci and...Mom. Yes, I kept it from Jaci that, I too lost my mom on that unfortunate day. I lost all the hope to live, when everything that were very close to my heart were gone in just mere seconds. I was planning to kill myself too because, I was not brave enough to live alone. Then suddenly, I had a dream. It was Mom, and she told me that I have to live because Jaci needs me. She's still alive and I have to find her.
That was the only boost I needed to join the search party to find the love of my life. I wasn't hopeless anymore, because someone powerful was guiding me towards her. What purpose I need to serve, I'm not sure but, I would give anything to stay beside Jaci. She is only family I am left with. It's been only 3 days, since I'm here and I realized one thing. Jaci has changed. And even if it's the bitter truth, I have accepted the fact that, she's not mine anymore. Not as lover at least. Jaci is in denial but I know she has very strong feelings for that caveman.
She has that look in her eyes, that only resemblance love or...Lust, something I always wanted to see in her eyes for me but, I guess, she considers me more of a friend, than a lover. But, I promised to myself and her that, her choices will never keep me away from her. I will always be there for her. As a friend or as a lover, no matter the circumstances.
Jaci was always a social person. She liked to meet new people, make friends and help people in need. I think her fate was preparing her all along to become a part of this tribe. Someone knew up there, she belong here. I was too jealous of Aku, when I first arrived here, but being in love myself, I can understand, how he feels about Jaci. The way he looks at her, like she's the air, he's breathing and without her, he would die. I know where he's coming from. I still can't forget the way, he went crazy, when Jaci passed out yesterday. I would have reacted the same way, if he was not there... Between us.
But, I'm not going to act like a dick about it because, someone else cares for my girl just like I do. I think it's time I make up with my...What's the word again,...Rival? No...Umn?...My best friend's future husband. Yes, that's right. Since Jaci is out, Aku didn't leave her side, neither did I but, I know it's hard to believe, I hardly saw him move from his position for more than 2 sec. Unbelievable right? Yeah. He really cares for her, I would give him that.
"Uh hum" I cleared my throat to bring his attention towards me. He did tiredly. Poor him, didn't even take a breather, since Jaci passed out. "You can go freshun up and eat something, you know. You have been sitting in that position for quite long time?" I gave a soft smile. He was shocked from my sudden change in behavior but didn't reacted. "I don't want to." he gestured. I sighed. "Look man, I know you really care for her, so do I but, You kind of are looking like a zombie, right now. I'm afraid, once she gets up, she might faint again looking at your pale ghost like face and red eyes." I joked.
He laughed. He actually laughed. "She might, right?" he nod his head. Then he turned towards her and stroked her cheeks very gently, with a smile and sighed, standing up. "I'll be back soon. You would stay by her side, right?" he asked, walking towards the entrance. "Always" I said, helding my head high. He definitely understood what I meant. Now and Forever. He paused at the entrance and smiled at me. "You are a good man Sam. You're welcome to stay in our tribe. I'm sure, Jaci would want that." he said, with a heavy heart.
"Thanks, I had promised her anyways, that I won't leave her side ever." I told him truthfully. He has to kill me first, if he wants to get rid of me. He nodded his head in understanding and walked away. In his absence, Abedabun came in to check on Jaci and to give me food. I thanked her, taking the food from her. "She will wake up soon, don't worry, son." she said with a genuine smile. "I hope so too." I said, sitting up straight to start eating. After few more bites, I stopped mid chewing, when I felt Abedabun acting strange.
