listen, I know that they're not a thing yet. oh boy, this next chapter of Chaser is making me scream bc yes, Haz, pop off sis.
anyway!!! I'm just thinking about how James and Hazel bond over Quidditch.
like, maybe James is in his feels, and he goes to practice to let it all out. Rem and Sirius snuck off somewhere, and Peter had a detention, and James really didn't want to spend his night in the dorm all alone. besides, he's still feeling the rejection after Lily came out to him. he's happy for her, but suddenly it feels like he's got nothing to chase anymore— so he goes to the field.
she's already there. her saturdays are always reserved for Quidditch practice, but James doesn't know that. he'd mutter out some weak excuse about needing some extra practice before the season starts, and Hazel will hesitantly offer to practice with him.
and like, he has fun. Hazel throws him for loops on the field, showing him the different moves she's practiced over the summer that she's almost 98% sure will win them the cup this year.
and obviously, this is just the start of their friendship. James is still getting to know her, but when he knows that he has free nights, he'll ask her to practice with him. and soon he'll start spilling out some of his past, and she'll offer some of hers.
wow, I just really love them so much. I'm so excited to see their relationship bloom and grow and 🥰
and man, when they graduate and everyone is talking about the order and settling down after the war, Lily and Sirius totally tease them about how they should raise their own quidditch team. James may or may not agree while Hazel rolls her eyes
