PRETENSE

Jinwoo and Seunghoon decided to have their own little game of pretense. Little did they know, fate has already started playing a different game with them as the main characters even before they met at a bar where one of them almost died.

The gentle waves of the sea keep him sane, and make him believe that there is more to life than heartbreaks. When the right time comes and when all wounds no longer sting as much, he knew they'll get a second shot in love... and then he won't ever let him go or let him let go of him again.

Jinwoo let go of the steering wheel. He let out a hot breath as he took the key out of the ignition. He looked out the window and saw a car mirroring his. He realized he could be anyone too in the point of view of someone outside, not him, not Jinwoo.

He bit his lip. It was the first time he was there for four months so if he ever backs down and drives away, it would be understandable. But he knew he was ready when he made up his mind after showering this morning.

Jinwoo nodded lightly to himself. He freed himself from his seatbelt and opened his car. With that short moment, a memory stood out from his mind. It was the same whenever he found himself alone in the studio or whenever his eyes wandered on the photography of him over his bed or when...ever...

He climbed out and slowly looked around the parking lot. It was half-filled, it was mostly like that too when he first went six months ago. Jinwoo made slow steps towards the entrance of the place, mostly like how he did the first time too.

He could be here, he couldn't be here.

The aroma of fresh herbs and tomato sauce made its way to his nostrils. A server half-smiled when she saw him. He independently occupied a table-for-two near the door. Nothing's changed.Or maybe, in retrospective, something did like what happened to his life.

He could be here, he couldn't be here.

Aglio olio pasta, garlic bread, and orange juice were his order that day. If he wasn't cutting his sugar, he would get coke. Jinwoo tasted the pasta and it was exactly how he remembered. He grinned with his pleasant recollection and the heartwarming taste.

"Is it good, Sir?"

He could be here.

Jinwoo looked up to meet the sharp eyes of the place's owner and the chef. Seeing him with a slight smile on his lips was like a splash of cool Summer air. He willed his body to stay in place. "It's more than good."

The chef's smile widened. "I've never seen you here before so I thought I'd get your first-bite impression."

The steady beat of his heart, he thought, was amazing.

"Ah, I haven't introduce myself yet." There was a glint in the taller's eyes as he continued speaking. "I am Lee Seunghoon, owner of Haute's Place."

Jinwoo stared at the hand in front of him for a decent moment. He easily found himself on his feet with his hand drawing close to the other's before shaking it. "Kim Jinwoo." He wasn't expecting to feel anything when their skin touched, but he did feel something - warmth and familiarity.
