Spring Rain Falls
The rain was pouring.
It was cold.
Jinwoo was at Suncheon Bay National Garden. His editor sent him to Jeollanam-do to feature their spring there. It was only when he was given that assignment that he realized winter was over. But, was it really?
And now the sky decided to water the newly bloomed flowers. Jinwoo was at the gazebo, keeping himself dry there. He was watching the downpour. It was giving him - nothing. He felt cold, and that was it.
"Oh gosh! Why is it suddenly raining?"
Jinwoo felt something dumped hit his left arm.
"This is because of humans. Everywhere, we're throwing trash here and there, even those we can recycle, we throw them away. We're disgusting human beings. Now, the Earth is being ruthless. Now, it is raining so hard when I'm not bringing an umbrella."
Jinwoo's solace was gone.
"Hey." He felt a tap on his shoulder.
Jinwoo turned around to look at the guy. His hair was too dumped, droplets of water were falling down to his face. His eyes are small yet sharp, and were staring straight at him. His lips agape.
"Why?"
The guy closed his mouth, and his lips stretched into a smile. "Hi," he muttered to him. "I don't think you're from here. I know everyone here, and you have a look that's impossible to forget."
Jinwoo furrowed his eyebrows. He blinked as the surrounding silenced. The downpour stopped, not even a drizzle remained.
"Oh, the rain stops." The guy's eyes weren't leaving his. "Coffee or tea?"
"Huh?"
"I'm Lee Seunghoon." His right hand lifted in front of him.
Jinwoo looked at it, blinked at it, then his eyes traveled back to the guy's.
"Okay, you don't have to shake my hand." His hand went back to his side. "I just noticed you're shaking. I think you can use some hot drink."
Jinwoo blinked again.
"There's this nice little cafe a few walks from here, and I swear I'm harmless."
Jinwoo looked outside the gazebo. The garden was starting to brighten up, the flowers were definitely in full bloom and they became more beautiful with the pleasant glimmer the rain brought them. It was so beautiful, spring had really arrived. Jinwoo turned back to the guy. "Okay."
Seunghoon grinned. "Let's go."
But Jinwoo didn't move yet.
Seunghoon waited.
"I'm Jinwoo."
"Are there a lot of people at Yudal Mountain this hour? What time should I arrive if I go there now?" Jinwoo lifted his gaze from his notepad to look at Seunghoon. He frowned as he saw him staring at him with a silly smile on his face. "What?"
Seunghoon's smile widened. "Uhm..." He set both of his elbows on the table and clasped his hands together. "Well, of course there'll be people there 'cause it's spring and the cherry blossoms are so beautiful at this time. If we go there now, it will be dark when we arrive so the flowers won't look good in pictures anymore. How about be go there tomorrow?"
And from all that he heard, Jinwoo picked up just one word. "We?" He took a sip of his matcha latte. It is really good and calming, and warming.
"Yes." Seunghoon nodded. "I'll take you there. You have to bring your camera, right? I can do that for you, I can be your assistant."
