"I rejected someone today," Jinwoo admitted to Seunghoon. They were in their company's canteen with barely themselves. It was almost 2 pm, too late to eat lunch yet too early to have an afternoon snack.

Seunghoon chewed on his braised kimchi and swallowed before answering, "It's like saying you ate your lunch today, hyung. Nothing new? Like you approved of someone today?"

He chuckled heartily. What was even funnier for him was how his best friend said that in a serious tone. "You're exaggerating, Seunghoon-ah."

"No, I'm not." Seunghoon gulped down his water. He's done. "By the way, you're good later?"

He nodded. "But I still have to pick up the flowers."

"I'll have to pick up the cake too so let's do that together and go home together."

Jinwoo smiled. "Sounds like a plan."

Jinwoo met Seunghoon during high school. The latter was a new student then and was supposed to go to the admin office, but he didn't know where it was and which way to go. Seunghoon asked for his help since he was the first student he saw.

The story is funny. He successfully lead Seunghoon to the admin office but got lost on his way back to their building, so he just returned to where he left the new student. Seunghoon was surprised to find him outside the office after whatever business he did inside.

"You waited for me? That's so kind of you."ii He only smiled then, too shy to admit to the new student the truth.

Later on, he did tell Seunghoon what really happened. He still got embarrassed especially when his new friend laughed out loud in the hallway for all the other students to hear, but Jinwoo was really thankful he got lost that day for it was also the day he found his now long-time best friend.

They were inseparable since they took the same course in college. People always regard them as "the best friends". Both of them know very well that some think they're more than that, especially those who know about their gender preferences.

Jinwoo's family lives in Mokpo, while Seunghoon was living with his in Seoul until they graduated in college. Jinwoo became so close to Seunghoon's family too like as if he was part of it from the beginning. He was always present on their family gatherings so there was no way in the world he's going to miss Seunghoon's mother's birthday party happening right now.

"Jinwoo-ya!"

"Really, Mom? Is he your son?"

He chuckled. It was always like that when he goes to Lee residence. Seunghoon's mom would always greet him first between him and her real son.

"Happy birthday, Eomonim." He kissed her cheeks. "I got these flowers for you."

Mrs. Lee accepted them, beaming. "Oh, they are so beautiful, Jinwoo-ya. Thank you so much. Well, come in, come in, you two."

"Ah, finally," sighed Seunghoon.

Inside, everyone greeted Jinwoo with the same cheeriness as the birthday celebrant. His presence definitely warmed the house.

He got so occupied with the pleasantries and catching up with Seunghoon's family that he didn't see how his best friend had to step back to watch him, just watch him. His best friend watched him with heart eyes and soft smile, just like how he was watching him in the past when he was with his family.

Jinwoo and Seunghoon were now inside the younger's room. That's always their drill, staying the night over there after a Lee family gathering.
